Chaps,

Putting this here as I know we have slightly different laws regarding this matter north of the border. In short, I'm looking to retrieve a will and I believe I would need to contact the following, as per the NRS website:

Testaments recorded after 1999
Testaments recorded from 2000 onwards are not held by us. Instead you should contact the Commissary Department, Edinburgh Sheriff Court, 27 Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1LB.

I have a genuine reason and it's a family member but has anybody been down this route before and if so, what is required or is it simply a case of writing to the above with name, where they lived and when they died and that's it or is it a more in depth process than that?

Seems to be little on line to advise?

Thanks
