I've picked up 15 plate Ford Focus Ecoboost (125) recently. I ran my last car (Honda Accord i-VTEC Sport) to 140k miles, so I just used a local garage who are very good. However, now I have warranty to maintain. All of the dealers around me are Arnold Clark (we've got history, not happening), Evans Halshaw (reviews not looking great) or Macklin Motors (seems ok).

Does anyone know of any soild trustworthy Ford dealerships around the Glasgow area? I might just opt to stick with my trustworthy local garage as advised by motorpoint at the time of sale. I'm a bit wary of giving Ford any sort of reason not to honor the warranty though. I know the BER allows me to do this, but I suspect good will is tied to a dealer service history.

Any thoughts?

Have used Macklin in Darnley once for an mot, no complaints. Don't know much else about their good and bad.

Evans Halshaw at Cumbernauld Road seem OK from using them severa times via work and we use Evans Halshaw East Kilbride for our own car, seem fine so far.

Would agree on not using any Arnold Clark Ford in the Glasgow area.

I've had the misfortune of having to take the Mrs previous Focus to them on several occasions as they never got anything right first time - something as simple as changing the pollen filter was ballsed up meaning a footwell full of water.

I've also had to use their bodyshop (as somehow they are Merc approved so used as the main dealer bodyshop by Glasgow Merc for warranty stuff) in the last year and they are completely useless, run by 20yrs olds who refer to every customer as 'mate' and struggled to keep track of the lies they were telling me - e.g. call on Monday to say car would be ready on Wednesday, call next day on Tuesday to say they haven't actually ordered parts yet despite car been sitting with them for a week!

Thanks folks.

This seem to be the norm as far as dealers go unfortunately. I had a car more or less destroyed in the course of 18months of warranty blunders by Arnold Clark Fiat in Shawlands. Phoenix Honda have consistently listed work to my old accord which didn't need done (although, warranty issues were never a problem). It's really frustrating, you buy a new car to have a good warranty etc then you can't get anywhere decent to service the thing!

I might just stick with my trusted garage locally and keep on top of the paperwork. They do fit main dealer parts etc to manufacturers service schedules so it should be fine. I should only be covering 20k in the next 3 years so Ford will have a job wriggling out of any warranty claim.

The reason they are Merc approved for bodywork is because the company which owns Evans Halshaw (Pendragon Plc) also own the Merc main dealership at Milton Street.

Wondering if anyone has any up to date recommendations for Ford servicing in Glasgow (North of the river preferably)?

It's for a Ford Edge 2.0tdci auto, the 4 year major service - nothing out of the ordinary but the recent experience with the usual local garage uncovered that their idea of a service is oil and filter and nothing else.

At the other end of the spectrum, Evans Halshaw want over £600, and that's before they try and upsell on tyres and brakes...

Just looking for somewhere that might actually know or check what needs doing, and do it :-)
