I am planning my holidays in Scotland in early October and want to include some great roads. North of Ullapool has been recommended, so I am looking for a hotel or B&B in that area that would take me up for two nights. There are many, but are there any that you have been very happy with?

I went to Lewis and Harris kiteboarding for five days last month and stayed in Ullapool the night before I got the ferry. Stayed in the Caledonian hotel and it was fine enough. 45 quid for the room including breakfast which had just about the best haggis I've ever had.

Only problem I had was they put me in Room 101! yikes

Riverside B&B is good. Book early as it can be fairly busy. He was fully booked last time I wanted to stay so I stayed at his in laws place the Dunroabin I think it was.

Myself and my biker mates head up to Ullapool around twice a year and we always stay at the Royal Hotel which is one of the first ones on your right as you come in to the village (town?).
It's hardly 5 star accommodation but its a bed for the night and serves a good breakfast, plenty of car parking space too.
Very popular with bikers.
