Hi Folks

It looks like I need to look for an engine for my 2003 HSE Range Rover (variant of the M62 4.4 V8 petrol engine)

I can do the engine swap myself but I'm looking for a good source of recon/second hand engines. preferably north of the border and central belt would be even better.

Anyone got any experience or recommendations? A google search brings up a couple of companies one of which doesn't have a good rep based on some other threads on here!

Cheers

James

Might be easier to recondition the one you have, whip it out and take it to Jem Engines in Falkirk

As much as I'd love to drop a supercharged Jag engine in I don't think it would be that cheap a swap!

Good shout on JEM though I have used them in past for skimming a head. After digging round the net I'm not really uncovering many decent sources for the 4.4 engine so I think I will end up taking it out and stripping it down.

It's done 170k, 140 of that on LPG so it's done pretty well!

Killer for th eM62 is having the right cam locking tools, especially if you want to change the cam chain guides (plastic), which of course you will as they're the cause of so many of the engines getting scrapped.

Good luck even finding a garage that has the tools, never mind wanting to do the work frown

try GEMM 4x4 in larbert, my uncle went there to get some bits and pieces for an old defender, they have a bit of an old land rover scrap yard. were always working on various different land rovers, worth speaking to them and see what they say.
