Next week the OH and I have a couple of days off and fancy going up north for a trip. We're looking for somewhere with camping pods to keep costs down. I'd originally planned on going to Skye, as I've only ever driven up to Portree then turned back, but the camping pods are either fully booked or more expensive than a hotel!
We've done Applecross a couple of times and would go back but it'd be nice to go somewhere new.
Any suggestions/recommendations for somewhere up the North West?

Cheers

This is the only place that comes to mind right now. Only heard good things about them.

Mull is nice for a few days. Iona for a trip, Calgary Bay sandy beach and some decent places to eat.

Food and drink in Dervaig is decent and lots of accommodation in Tob.

Head out via Oban Ferry and back via Lochaline and Corran.

Cheers, had a look at the 'Little Abodes' but it's a 3 day minimum stay and a bit pricey. We were thinking about Mull but we're planning on spending a few days there for the rally in October.
Currently thinking about Applecross for a night, then right up to the 'top road' and stay in the Wick area.

You could jump on the ferry at Ullapool and head to Stornoway. I've just booked four nights there for mid June to go kiteboarding and I noticed a few of the pod type places when I was roaming on google maps. However, the hotels and B&B's are really reasonably priced and the ferry is only a hundred quid with a car.

I cant think of any camping pod type places in Caithness apart from the chalets at John O'Groats and I'm pretty sure they wont be cheap.

cheers,

Have been at new ones near Ballachulish. Dragon's Tooth golf course they were on IIRC. Nicely kitted out, just at the west end of Glencoe.

If you're heading across for the rally in October then book somewhere now! Weather can be good but you'd still be a brave person to go camping at that time of year. If you are across I'll be competing.

We stayed at Kinlochleven and Applecross for glamping and a hotel in Tongue for the last night 'Ben Loyal' it's called.
