The wife and I are heading back to Aberdeen from a trackday at Spa on the 4th-5th August, and thought that we would like to stop off to see the Edinburgh Tattoo on the way.

Is there anywhere that anyone can recommend to park up a motorhome (<7m) which would allow easy public transport links in to town?

I have a friend who regularly comes up from Yorkshire and parks his motorhome at Mortonhall. Excellent bus service to the city centre.

you could maybe park at one of the park and ride places. There's a few of them but I think the one near the Sheriffhall roundabout has buses that go pretty close to the Royal Mile.

There should be enough space outwith the absolutely peak times.

Have you got tickets? They can sell out real fast!

You're not allowed to park motorhomes or caravans at the park and rides. I think they all have height bars to deter the "wandering" community from parking up in them for weeks at a time.

Forgot, Graighall Road next to Victoria Park. I've frequently seen motorhomes there during the summer parked overnight. Again excellent bus service into the city centre.

I've seen plenty of campers parking at Ingleston P&R and jumping on the tram.

Parking within 'Edinburgh Park' might be an option too then using the tram to get into town.

I'm not familiar with the time limits on car parks near the tram stations (although I think the Edinburgh Park retail area is 2 hours and there's not much parking apart from that around the station) but I would have thought the Gyle would be the easiest, least hassle place to park near the trams and some buses.

There is always the caravan site at Mortonhall, if you were planning to be sleeping in said motorhome and would like an ehu for the night.

Or there is the Silverknowes Caravan Club site which does accept non members too.

Both are in town and are on or close to bus routes in to the city centre.
