Things to do in Glasgow
Discussion
Hey folks,
I'm heading down to Glasgow for a week next week and looking at places to go. Not to bothered about traveling to Edi etc but keen to stay away from the town centres as I will have a van and can't get access to multi-storey car parks. Will just be myself and a 4yr old. So slightly kid friendly.
Will be doing the intu braehead place. Anything interesting near the airport?
P.S any of the usual suspects fancy a catch up let me know.
Cheers
Avril.

Science center is a good shout can spend all day there, another one worth going to is Transport museum which is just round the corner from Science Center and has tall ship outside as well to explore.
The Kelvingrove Museum and there is park with swings etc next to it as well if weather is dry (some chance !)
Scotland street Museum (school museum) , or next to it is the Shields road Subway station where you can park and ride for £5 into the centre of Glasgow (has outdoor car park) and sure your little one would enjoy that.
Peoples Palace and winter gardens is another different museum also in a park; close to center of Glasgow.
Couple more Loch Lomond is only 20 mins away, and it has Sea life center there as well. Also Pollock Park has highland coos and heavy horses; can drive through the park as well.

Echoing all the things above, especially the science centre.
However, if you've got a four year old with you, you really need to look at the Sharmanka Theatre down in the east end / trongate area. Plenty of street parking around there for a couple of quid. It's a puppet (sort of ) art exhibition designed and built by a Russian emigrant to Glasgow in the 60s. It's very whacky, they all move mechanically and it's absolutely transfixing.
If you go on a Sunday you can pay to watch them all being turned on; there's another show day too, but i forget what it is. The website will tell you though. If you just turn up, they usually have one working for you, but it's well worth the fiver to see them all running - book ahead though! It's very very popular.
