I thought the last referendum was a once in a generation occurrence? I hope we don't have to go through it all again, family's split, pointless arguing, it really brought out the worst in many people. And I am a Scot, proud of it too but seeing some of the behaviour...

Also the oil industry is fked, so Salmond accounts are goosed. It will recover but not to what it once was.

Politicians can never accept they were outvoted, the Scots were it seems "mistaken" to think a vote is a vote and that it should be honoured as such by the SNP, so much for democracy and the rule of the majority.

I was a late to the decision yes voter, however only because my ideal of autonomy within the UK was not an option (quote). When the three stooges came north and delivered "the vow" that cemented my opinion - that these buggers had something to hide......

HOWEVER - I am of the opinion now the vote is done. It's over. Finito. Let it rest, the decision is made. Move on - for everybodys benefit.

The only time it should be resurrected is in the event of some fundamental change in the UK which deeply affects Scotland. The forthcoming EU referendum being a good case - say it was proven that Scotland voted to remain, rest of UK says OOT!! then what??

As Scotland voted to stay part of the UK then as such it should abide by the majority vote. Would you same the same about London, Cornwall, "The North" ?

I've only been in Scotland a couple of months, re-located from London.

I hadn't realised how much talk still goes on about the referendum. I too, like the rest of the world tbh, thought it was done and dusted and everyone would indeed have moved on.

Seems a lot of time, effort and money being wasted going round in circles. Surely better things to waste these valuable resources on.

Awesome place, haven't looked back...

I have only been here, eh all my life. It was a one off vote, we voted no, that is the end of it. Thing is they are STILL rattling on about it, there are even a few loonies camped up outside Holyrood, due to be moved on by the Police soon. We have been given, or are due to get a load of devolved powers, my worry is that we do not have the relevant intelligence to implement these.

Dear SNP - Please work FOR your country, not your single agenda, that is how it seems to the layman.

Oh, and Clarki - Welcome. I am not always grumpy, you will enjoy it up here, we are not all Red headed, kilt wearing idiots. smile

Rapidly imploding oil industry? Boring foot stamping? Tiresome rhetoric about 'freedom'?? Backward looking chippyness??

Take your pick.

To be chippy is to have a chip on ones shoulder. Apols for spelling.

Of course Scotland is a lovely country with some thoroughly decent folk (like your good self), but there comes a point where, much like a high maintenance GF, one has to say "see ya, don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out".

I always imagine it would end up like East and West Germany. A wall would go up, the smart people would leave (brain drain), the economy would nosedive and then suddenly the politicians would start getting cosy with Russia ie we'll give you money and investment as long as you let us have a little bit of influence and maybe land for a couple of military bases. Then before you know it the Stasi will be on every street corner and David Hasselhoff will be singing at us *shudders*.

Funnily enough I did think the A9 average cameras were a bit Stasi-like hehe

Exactly the same mate - moved up here in September after 8 years in the Smoke, never looked back, don't miss it one bit! Good to see I'm not the only one making the move, it made visiting family at Xmas interesting!
