205 gti restoration
Discussion
Got myself a '91 205 gti that is in reasonable nick for the age. The plan is to use it as a summer car for me and the wife to tour around in and have good times in. It has some rust that needs to be got on top of before it really takes hold.
I am trying to compile a list of body shops to approach to carry out the work. As far as I can see the car will need
work on the sills, top of the b pillars, the boot floor, behind the fuel tank and near side inner wing. Probably an external respray.
Being based in Aberdeenshire I have so far got these body shops on my list....
Impact Autobody, Dyce
Kintore Autobody and Restoration, Kintore
Ogilvy Car Restoration, Granton on Spey
Should I cast my net a little wider? I will prob contact Peugeot Ecosse too.
Anyone got any recommendations, or had similar body work restoration done on their "junior classic"?

give Greg at Ecosse a call, they are the experts on 205s and their work is top drawer,
having seen a lot of their restos up close over the last few years they really do make the effort.
cost wise I cant comment but its a great name to attach to the work as well.
also recommend Phil and Kevin at KP autos in Cambuslang, having watched their resto of a xr2 over the last few months its awe inspiring.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ellon Autobody is a good shout.

Can we get some pics please? I used to work in a Peugeot Dealer when these were initially launched, and loved them!
I'll try and get some pictures together for you, hopefully the weather will clear up!Can we get some pics please? I used to work in a Peugeot Dealer when these were initially launched, and loved them!
Was this the red one up for sale locally recently?
I won't recommend anywhere, but after seeing the severity of the rot in what looked to be a rather nice but needing some minor tlc lazer green 205 a mate owned, tread carefully.
It looked reliatively sound, but it was rotten, everywhere you couldn't see, so much so that he's ended up scrapping the shell and started with another car to rebuilt the lazer green car into (it was a full mi16 conversion inc the complete wiring loom so ran properly)
Good luck finding somewhere suitable.

I got this one from England, a Lazer green 1.6. I have seen some bad ones and this one seemed better than most.I won't recommend anywhere, but after seeing the severity of the rot in what looked to be a rather nice but needing some minor tlc lazer green 205 a mate owned, tread carefully.

Ah there was a red 1.9 for sale recently needing recommissioning that I was tempted by, but the rust around the windscreen put me off, I thought this may be the car you had bought. I genuinely hope your laser green car is better than my mates one was
