I knew they were there, so sat at 45 (just under 10% + 2) but incorrectly assumed that I could speed up between the 2nd and 3rd camera. Always believed they were '1 in, 1 out, gap for the exit left, 1 in, 1 out.

Caught at 53. stbags.

is that the bit where you've just passed the bridge and are heading uphill while passing the exit to Rosyth?

You knew the cameras were there, you willingly decided to "take a chance" by using all of the ACPO guidance allowance, and then put your foot down prematurely, yet 'THEY' are the stbags?

I'm not a big fan of these cameras, nor of artificially low speed limits, but (now, after being caught on a 50mph fixed camera on the M4 near Swansea) I just switch on my electronic speed limiter, and set to 'displayed limit + 2 or 3 mph'. My license is clean again, and has been for a few years now, and I won't take a chance again. Even if that means sitting in lane 1 with coaches and HGVs passing me in the average speed camera zone.

There's no skill, nor any fun to be had, in driving fast on motorways and dual carriageways anyway, so no point belting along at much above the posted limit.

As mentioned elsewhere, I drove up and down to Aberdeen yesterday and not familiar with road.
Trillions of camera around Aberdeen, Dundee, A90 etc so I just sat on the cruise control for them all.

Cousin has since told me that only 2 of the cameras are live on the A90 but I ain't taking his word for it!

The thing to watch out for nowadays is camera vans. There's usually at least 1 somewhere on the route when I head up. Like you though, I do use the cruise control set to a legal speed

I tend to use cruise control as well but what really upsets me are those divs that pass you then pull back in and brake for the speed camera forcing you to either brake as well or pull out to overtake. What is that all about...

I know that you can sit at a steady 85 on that road and not trigger cameras, however, it gains very little in doing so.

Personally i'm not a huge fan of speeding on motorways, in fact i don't particularly like motorways in general. If i can i try to avoid motorways wherever possible.

The 6 points I've received over the years for doing 81 and 82 beg to differ...

I'll do 79 through fixed cameras as I have on the A90 weekly for the last few years, but I won't risk 80 or 80+...

I think I got stung by a camera van on the A92 by Cowdenbeath last week, just waiting to see what the postie brings...

CityLink bus pulled bacck over into lane 1 and I accelerated past, think I had just nudged 79/80 (so probably 75/76 GPS) when I saw the van. Anyone experience of whether this speed is 'admissible' with a camera van?

In my experience you'll be okay (just) in as far as getting a fine but nowadays they'll send you a letter warning you not to exceed the speed limit by any margin or they'll prosecute if they catch you at it again. I know this new warning system has been planned but haven't heard of anybody getting a letter yet.

Yeah I normally won't go above an indicated 79 but was caught out once by a speedo that read lower than the actual speed, and once by my bad maths when converting a KM/H speedo to MPH on approach to the camera.

But both my own fault so can't complain - just didn't want people to think they could get away with going through above 80
