Heading up to Aberdeen AECC from Motherwell for Kevin Bridges on Sunday night.
Will call into my favourite restaurant in Arbroath on way up for lunch.
However I need to leave straight after to drive back down to Motherwell - where is best to park (cheaply) and for a quick exit onto the A90 back home?

News you dont want - AECC is north of Aberdeen center..
I would park over the road from the AECC - somewhere near the McDonalds/ Go Karting place on the left hand side as you drive north up King Street, then to leave I would get onto the Parkway - yes, single carriageway and you might get stuck but this will take you around the city center.
I do not know exact parking permits in the area, Sunday night should be OK, I have parked in the area to go to AECC events in the past.

Yes, some of those roads are clogged up at the best of times, but to me that seems the easiest route. We only have 2 bridges over the river Don at the moment, more are being built, but you might miss work on Monday if you wait for them to be completed.
I have also just noted that parking prices at the AECC have come down to £5 - it was a good £12 per car last time I went...
Enjoy!

If you get there early enough, then there are a few spaces that you can use free of charge in the area. As you turn right at the roundabout on the A90 towards the AECC you will go down the hill towards another roundabout and then go straight ahead at this one. The entrance to the AECC car park is then on your right, but go past this and take the second entrance on your left (about 100m further along). That stretch of road has some parking spaces with no double yellow lines on it.
Ok it's about an extra 3 minutes walk from the paid for spaces, but free to use and you might get away slightly earlier as there are invariably long queues to leave the official car park.
There are some office car parks nearby as well that would be empty on aSunday night, but they do sometimes have security patrols.

We did this when seeing... ...ahem Elton John at the AECC. The patrols know you do this (they don't mind) but when the traffic is coming out the heavily prioritise the AECC carpark vehicles, we counted that they let a dozen out the carpark then two from along the road!Ok it's about an extra 3 minutes walk from the paid for spaces, but free to use and you might get away slightly earlier as there are invariably long queues to leave the official car park.

OK just a wee update - arrived early, went past the car park and parked up the side street a suggested. Sat there for a while and thought that it was actually quite isolated and wasn't too comfortable about leaving the car there so decided to put it into main car park and try and get a space near the exit which we did.
Came out after the show to see that it was a free for all, the exit lanes that were obvious in daylight weren't as obvious at night and cars were cutting through from all angles. Then when we did get to the exit, they had coned the road off so that two lanes were turning right on exiting the car park to take us along past the road that I originally had the car parked in!
These 2 lanes then merged into one ie the normal left hand lane to slowly work its way all round that estate and back to the roundabout at the Holiday Inn. However some drivers thought that it was a one way so decided to use the right hand lane. So others then followed. Until they met cars coming the other way.....
Bit chaotic but show itself was good!
