Hi all. My 14 year old son is looking to do some voluntary work for part of his Queens badge award. Preferably around south lanarkshire, either on a saturday or sunday. He tried the pdsa but they are full at the moment and he's too young for both the sspca and dogs trust. He likes animals which is why we tried these charities but open to suggestions.

Unfortunately coming to wash cars doesn't count (tried that..lol).

If anyone knows of a charity company that would appreciate a gopher for a bit please give me a shout.

Cheers, Johnny.

Plenty charity shops around in EK and on most of the main streets these days but what about asking in a vets or the SSPCA site in Hamilton?

Guide dogs for the blind in Hamilton may fit the bill.

Does the organisation have to be a charity Johnny? I'm just thinking that my Blantyre based dog walker might be happy for him to lend a hand on walks etc. but I'm not sure.

I work for a charity and we are not allowed to take any volunteers under the age of 16 due to Child Protection issues. Many charities may be the same.

yeah craigie. We're finding that issue. Most have a minimum age of 16. There are a load of guys from his club all looking for work which is making it difficult for some. Anywhere that taes 14 years and up are full.

We'll keep looking..

Cheers guys.

Try talking to loch lomond national park. They have loads of volunteer park rangers.

It would be a train journey to Balloch if he's up for it.
