I am fulfilling a long held ambition and going up to Shetland with OH in September.Intend to ferry up from Aberdeen overnight -having driven up from Yorkshire . Any must sees and dos - good food , best views, drives, walks etc recommended? Car is vanilla Focus so lack of 150mph bends not too much of a problem ...

Eshaness is worth a look, especially if the wind's up and there's a big sea!
Frankie's Fish and Chips in Brae, worth it just for the battered scallops.
Go find some live music in Lerwick.

Hope you have a good time.

Why not take the R400?

Do 2/3 of the " North Coast 500".

Stay a night at " The Inn at John O’Groats" then ferry to Kirkwall.

Have a look round Orkney and then pick up the Nothlink ferry to Lerwick.

Then, once you've scratched your Shetland itch, Northlink back to Aberdeen.

Sorry, can't help with things to do in Shetland as I've only ever flown or sailed in with work. Any run ashore invariably involved lots of drinking as well.

If you need any help with anything when you're in Aberdeen, PM me or look me up.

BTW, do you know what a "Shetland Rose" is? They are often seen by the side of the road and look like this ...

I hope you have a great trip. smile
