Travel to New York.

Hi all. I'm trying to get a last minute deal for me and SWMBO for the start of next month. I can find a good deal on last minute for the 2nd, flying direct from Glasgow for £2240 for both and staying in a decent hotel. This to me seems good, but SWMBO reckons as she's been before, that it's expensive?
Has anyone been or booked recently, travelling from Glasgow direct? There are deals from Manchester or London for a few hundred less, but factor in getting there, blah blah and it's gonna end up way more!

£1900 wtp + avios mfu to ba club world lhr-jfk @ 1 month notice for 2 persons. Hotel booked on morning of arrival @ $135 per night in NJ but served our purpose of being able to pop into take a look at the 9/11 memorial and go up one world trade center observation deck but otherwise staying outside of Manhattan.

Being from Glasgow and having always been fascinated about the ships built on the Clyde I really like the old school Cunard transatlantic from Southampton to NYC. Something pretty special about arriving in the city by boat and if you book last minute you can get crazy deals like £599 including a return flight.
Have just booked for next March, NY Newark from Glasgow via London Heathrow - £460 odd including connecting flights all booked together on the BA website with good flight times - leave Glasgow at 8am and in NY for 2pm, return is leave NY at 8pm, in Glasgow for 10am next day.
Seemed pretty reasonable and flying via London doesn't add that much to the journey IMO, less than an hour on the flight down and around an hour between flights - enough for some breakfast and a coffee
