Hello sir. Taylor Wimpey are building extensively within our development in Glasgow and although we opted for a Miller home, we were very impressed with the fit and finish of the Taylor Wimpey show homes. Apparently new legislation relating to those who are disabled means that downstairs toilets and hallways have to be bigger than they were previously and there is certainly a noticeable difference in size between the old show homes and the new ones. I also think that the quality of the monoblock driveways are better than those built by Miller and Bellway.

Thanks Martin.I must admit, I was shocked at the side of the downstairs toilet. The only thing I'm abit unsure of is the red roof tiles
Taylor Wimpey have permission to build a further 600 homes here and Miller are into their next phase. Rather than using brick, the new Miller homes have a white rough cast type outer surface which to my eyes looks unfinished. Apparently it's significantly cheaper than using bricks. Taylor seem to be a lot more generous with their garden size but a point to note, should you have nothing to the rear of your new home, don't be fooled by claims that they will not be building there or will add a landscape buffer. My neighbours on the other side of the road were all told this and are now up in arms because they are building a road and more houses immediately behind their homes. Nothing better than moving into a new build though - a blank canvas! Good luck with it all.
I had a newbuild TW house before moving back in with parents. (Who also bought a TW house)
Any niggles were quickly dealt with by site manager.
Don't bother with the optional extras, they're all overpriced. (IMHO).
Any questions, drop me a PM

If you do want any optional extras 'built in' for you getting the keys, just grab some of the trades chaps in the morning or evening outwith the site and ask around. On our new-build home 10yrs ago the groundworkers were extending monoblock driveways and patios for my neighbours, and we got interior and exterior downlights, outside tap, alarm system etc by paying the onsite spark and the plumber direct for the same work but without the builder's mark-up. It saved having to start ripping things apart as soon as we moved in, whilst getting the 'extras' at a reasonable cost.
A case of beer or bottle of whisky to the site manager also allowed access a day or two prior to completion for flooring and carpet fitters, they even left the skirting boards off on request to make installation easier.
