I am thinking about buying a 911 (964 or 993) but as a recent arrival from "down South" don't know of any independent service/repair garages for maintenance. Can anyone advise, preferably with their own experiences, please?

Many moons ago when I had the 911 (and a 944 turbo before it) I used Brian Miller in Edinburgh - Lanark Road West. Not exactly the most prestigeous of premesis, but more than compensated for by reasonable rates (repair rather than replace ), and no problems with any of the work. Brian knows his Porsches...he was the head honcho for Porsche service for Glen Henderson & Glenvarigill at one time I recollect.

There also used to be another independent Porsche garage in Shotts. Not sure if they're still there though and never used them.

There's a few listed here:

Whereabouts are you and I'll find out, I'm in Glasgow.

Are you in the PCGB? Coming to the meets?

Also if you fancy a run occasionally, let me know - there are quite a few Porsche enthusiasts in Scotland and many runs organised.

Glen Henderson (former Merc dealers) now claim to be MB/BMW/Porche specalists IIRC and are extending their building for it. They're on heathfield road Ayr.

I was in the same position a couple of months ago after moving back from England.

After phoning around and visiting various premises have now got the 993 in at Motortune in Shotts for new dampers and springs.

Peter is the guy you want to speak to.
