2 country hotels to consider -
Both Skeabost Hotel and Flodigarry House (stunning view) would be safe for Vantage. But check out recent hotel reviews first, I haven't been to either for a couple of years.

Skeabost is within taxi distance of Portree, Flodigarry is more remote but a stunning place for a quiet night outside (weather permitting).

Flodigarry is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The view from the hostel is breathtaking.

Duisdale and Torovaig are reputedly very nice in the South of Skye - no problems for the car there. You are not likely to have any issues with vandalism in Skye to be honest - hardly a car crime hotspot.

I'd probably remove the "Better-Together" sticker though.biggrin

If you go to the Duisdale would you pop over the road and cut my grass please.
It's a few weeks since I've been up and with last weeks weather it'll be getting long.

And if you've got a trailer please collect the old Volvo out of the garage and dump it at the breakers

And if you take up an angle grinder you could cut up the old garage door that's round the side of the garage so I can get it into the car.

And please take some time to apply a liberal dousing of weed killer on the gravel a well.

That lot'll keep you busy for a while - enjoy.

Weather's supposed to be good this weekend - might pop up myself.
If there's a Jaguar X Type Estate in view, pop in.

I was there at the weekend.

Stayed at Tingle Creek Fri on Kyle of Lochalsh - comfortable, cheap and good food.
Duisdale on the Sat - nice but expensive.

Weather is luck of the draw.

Friday was great, Sat was low cloud and little rain.
Sunday was stunning. A walk up the Storr is a must

Nice pics
Yes having lived there for a few years weather is very much luck of the draw. But the breeze kept the midgies away. Fish & Chips from the Waterfront in Broadford was the best I got (very nice too) and a pint in the EI (why do I go there, I'll never know).
I've heard the Duisdale is expensive and I have heard mixed views on it too.
I live(d) just across the road from it, was there Friday and Saturday night, headed off about 9.40, came back for the milk I left in the fridge(!) and headed off again about 10.00.
Drive back to Yorkshire was a pain with the usual foreign camper vans in groups of three so you cannot get past, the sightseers stopping in the middle of the road without a care in the world (top of the Skye Bridge). Lot of fast bikes out too.

We were up there in April and stayed at the Flodigarry. Quirky hotel with some unusual design touches. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Better luck next time on getting that far!

I'd recommend http://www.eileaniarmain.co.uk/
One of the finest restaurants I' ever eaten in, and it'll be plenty safe for your car.
Stunning views over the Sound of Sleat over to the mainland.
