Afternoon all!
I have an experience booked on Saturday morning at the GTM to drive 2 Supercars with multiple laps in each.
Has anyone had any experience with SCS and able to give any advice on what to expect?
The website does give guidelines but id rather hear from customers.
Never driven a supercar before so im rather excited but nervous at the same time!
It would make my day if I had a chance to drive a Ferrari so is it a case of turn up and choose cars or am I going to be handed the keys to pre selected vehicles?

Cheers!

I recently went on a Supercars Scotland experience at Driftland, Lochgelly - same company and cars.

Yes, you choose what you drive but you pay extra for the Ferrari and it was crawling around the track when I went - I think the 'instructors' (who will be sat next to you) allow freedom dependent on the value of the car, I chose the Lotus Elise and he let me have a good play with it, it was raining heavily though.

It was fun, but over quite quickly, perhaps the track is bigger at GTM?

On the day I went (about a month ago) they had a Ferrari F430, Audi R8, BMW M3, Porsche 911 (debadged, body that wasnt standard carrera but tints so I couldnt see inside so dont know what variant from a distance), Porsche Boxster, Ariel Atom, Subaru Impreza (Ken Block style livery), and yes, I chose the Lotus Elise - I wanted the 'purists' driving experience wink and it was raining heavily so the Atom wasnt allowed out.

Theres a few bad reviews online that put me off, but I enjoyed it, It was a gift however so have no idea if it was good value for money.

Hope you enjoy!

Hi BoostedStig,

I got given the Alford track day as a gift last year. To be honest I was a bit disappointed with it all. I was hoping to get a shot of the 911 GT3 and Nissan GTR but both were missing. In the end I got a couple of laps in an R8 and 458 but they have a chicane in the middle of the track so you're never able to get a feel for the pace of the cars without having to brake. As it was a gift I enjoyed it as it was an opportunity to drive a couple of "supercars" but wouldn't rush back with my own money to do it again.

All the best

I was given an experience couple of Christmases ago from my folks, did it at Lochgelly in August last year. I phoned to book my day a month previous, and then chose my cars when I signed in on the day. Choice then was an R8 V8, 911 C2S, M3 DCT, F430, Elise S2, V8V Roadster, and a Focus RS(?!).

I chose to drive the R8 and 911 with passenger laps in the V8V. The instructor in the R8 was happy to just trust me from the first corner and was actually very encouraging to brake later, accelerate harder etc. so I got the most I could out of the experience. The one in the 911 was slightly more reticent but I got a couple of good fun laps in.

I did notice that everyone in the Ferrari was going VERY slowly - wasn't sure whether that was to do with people being too tight to pay the damage waiver (£24 v. well spent) or whether it was on the instructor's wishes that they were crawling.

I really enjoyed it, felt it was well organised and a fun day. Would I spend it myself? Debatable, I'd potentially chose a bigger circuit but I know SCS are limited in that regard. Report back once you've been with your thoughts smile

Thanks for the replies guys! smile
Just the kind I was hoping for!
If theres a chance of a 911 ill be chuffed as bits and even more so with a GTR. Going by reading the Ferrari comments I might avoid it if theres either of the other 2 avaliable.
Just have to wait and see I suppose smile
The experience was bought this time last year through Groupon for I think 60 odd down from 150 so I guess you get what you pay for in the end.
Either way im looking forward to it but just hoping for a decent dry day.
Love the museum so a visit to there Is always welcome in my books smile
I shall report back on the Saturday night smile
Got weekend of car related activities planned with the driving on Saturday and Fraserburgh vintage car rally on the Sunday so ill be in my element ! smile

Alford has a tiny track, if you can go for Ingliston, its much better.
