Mindless idiots!
Discussion
I'm an advanced driver of over 40 years experience and I cannot believe the appalling deterioration in driving standards over the past few years; it is getting seriously bad out there. However, a great deal of this is down to mentality, not training.
So to the utterly mindless cretin who drove his dark blue Volvo through Bridge of Weir this morning around 10-30 let me enlighten you; and I truly hope you are reading this.
The Main Street in B of W is an accident waiting to happen. What this means is you drive with extreme caution. You don't even drive up to the 30 limit in the middle of the day. The road is far too narrow with hazards everywhere. You definitely don't howl down this road at roughly 50MPH!
When you see an old classic car completing a maneouvre in a really tight space you should do what most people do, and admire it and give them some room. This was a 1953 Bentley I was driving out on road test. It does not have power steering. It is very heavy. It does not have flashers; it has indicator arms mounted to the B pillars. It does not have scorching acceleration allowing it to zip into side streets effortlessly like a modern car. It is worth a great deal of money and would definitely not benefit from having your Volvo imbedded in the side of it.
The worst aspect to this was you leaning on your horn all the way up to the junction and beyond in just the fashion I would expect from a moron, and yes, it did get you a lot of attention from people shaking their heads in disapproval.
So grow up and learn how to drive and respect other road users.
Apologies to the rest of you for the rant, but I get so tired of this kind of driving we are forced to tolerate every day.

I expected this post to be political too but hooligan Volvo drivers? Who knew?
Sorry OP - just a bit of Friday light-heartedness.
By the way, the point of this post is so that I can let off steam. By way of compensation here is the lovely old Bentley that the horrible new Volvo nearly hit.

Bow down peasant and enjoy my car...
No I don't have a Volvo and do not condone speeding down narrow streets, but that post was cringeworthy!
Y'know I was really enjoying my Friday afternoon with a laugh at Kiltie's post and then you come along. Every time I read your posts it spoils my day because you constantly make the most ludicrous negative statements, so for your information and most importantly the education of your narrow mind.No I don't have a Volvo and do not condone speeding down narrow streets, but that post was cringeworthy!
There are no such thing as peasants nowadays in this country, so drag yourself into this century. If you read the post properly you would see that it is not my Bentley, I have just repaired it and it was on a road test. It does not belong to a lord, a wealthy business man or whatever type of "superior" being you seem to think it does. It belongs to a friend of mine with a wedding hire company who works his ass off all week long to make someone's day very special. That makes him a star in my eyes.
The idiot driver in the post happens to be driving a Volvo, but could have been driving anything. There are no limitations on crass stupidity.
So, tell you what, I won't contribute to your posts if you stay away from mine. That will make me very happy.

Almost everything seen on a journey can be linked with what may reasonably be expected to occur. Even immature children in possession of motor vehicles. By observing and linking with what we you see, you should formulate a proactive way of driving rather than a reactive one. This defensive attitude is born out of experience by what has occurred in the past is liable to occur again? I have driven very old cars that are challenging cumbersome and sometimes dangerous. It is sad to say but that is the risk you take when you drive these cars on the open road.
Talking of volvos and bad driving...I've had my new V60 for almost two weeks and I've had more hassle with idiot drivers than in any other car I've had. I sounded the horn on a dual carriageway one evening as an old 4x4 of some description was veering into my lane. This culminated in the middle aged driver flying up the inside lane after me and attempting to undertake me. I had already closed the gap in anticipation of what the idiot was about to do and he then proceeded to (eventually) undertake me sounding his horn as he did so - not once did he even look in my direction.
Yesterday whilst on the motorway, a driver was sitting at 50mph in lane 3 (quiet at the time). I flashed the driver in the hope that he would move into lane 2 but he then proceeded to slow to 45mph. I backed off and moved into the middle lane as I didn't want any hassle. For some reason he then moved from lane 3 to lane 1 and as I passed, the middle aged driver didn't even look at me - fair enough. About 5 minutes later and with me having forgotten all about it, I'm sitting at a set of lights at the end of a slip road and suddenly this car appears to my nearside - he sounds his horn at me, laughs and then accelerates away back on to the motorway. It actually made me feel quite uneasy as I'm starting to wonder what some drivers have turned into.
