Trying to get a good deal on a new VW Golf. Does anyone know of any good VW dealers in or around Glasgow other than Arnold Clark who i find to be totally intransigent in their negotiations with a take it or leave it attitude.

If its a new Golf you are looking for then I am guessing a search on the VW website will show you all the dealers in your area.
Not sure where you are but there is a non Arnold dealer in Bathgate.
Or you could try the broker websites.

What is it that AC are doing wrong in your eyes?

Ingram in Ayr
Inch Group in Bathgate and Stirling
Western in Edinburgh
Cameron in Perth
John Clark in Aberdeen and Fife
Barnett's in Dundee and St Andrew's
Hawco in Highlands/Moray/Aberdeenshire
Benfield Dumfries

I believe that Lawries (BMG) have lost/dropped VW in the Borders.

I have heard good things about Barnett's and Inch. Cannot comment on the rest.

I'd recommend specialist cars Aberdeen. They ended up only £110 dearer than prices I was getting from brokers and carwow at the time after a bit of negotiating. I had a couple of minor issues not long after getting my car and I couldn't fault their service as they kept their promises. I would have no problems buying from them again. Much better than my local dealer where I was reminded why I didn't buy from there when I recently went for my 1st service.

Thanks all. Just so happens I will be in Stirling tomorrow. Forgot all about Ingram's, bought my Golf VR6 from their Paisley site many years ago.

Another vote for Camerons in Perth. It's a small group that also own Perth Audi next door and Strathmore Volvo across the road.

It is the garage of choice for my dad with his Golf and the last two of my Mums cars were bought there. Apart from the odd minor niggle they have been fine.

I've bought 4 cars from Barnetts VW in Dundee. Scott Myles could not be more helpful and it's a very professional setup. I believe they won awards for customer service last year.

Arnold Clark sell cheap cars but in my experience, the salesmen are pretty poor in terms of their product knowledge and customer care. I also find a lot of their on-line finance quotes laughable. I know a lot of people won't have an issue with them but the recent service I have had from Taggarts Volvo is night and day.

If its a deal on a new car then I would take a wider view.
I've bought my last three new cars from dealers across England doing the deal by email and phone.
Had to drive to Lincoln twice but saved about 2k on each car by shopping around across a wide range of dealers rather than settling for a local deal.

I also had a good experience with Scott Myles when I bought my Golf GTI a few years ago. Matched the price I was looking at on Broadspeed.

Update - ordered my new Golf R from Inch in Bathgate today. Great customer service and good product knowledge, not to mention the really good part exchange; much, much better than uncle Arnold.

Tend to agree. Inch makes uncle Arnold look like Amateurs.

Now the wait begins!
