Run the Raceway - Prestwick Airport Sunday 10th May
Discussion
Rare opportunity to drive at full pelt along one of the countries longest runways. Sounds like it'll be a great day.

Had a call from them today as I had not yet paid the fee.
It would be nice if we could find out who/what else is attending before coughing up.
Will get the list of cars signed up to date and post it up tomorrow. Was up at McLaren today though and they are hopping to have the 675 along, at very least we will see the 650s and new Bentley GT3R I believe. It would be nice if we could find out who/what else is attending before coughing up.
Lots of nice metal signed up though and it really is for a great cause.
Can anyone explain what is involved? It says that two times races and finalists get to race the 2.98 runway, does that mean that you don't get to use the runway full unless you post a good time? What is the first race part and for how long? Also depends on what you are up against and how timed.
Can someone explain?

2 runways Paul, we have the second runway all day and that it what will be used for the runs. After 5 we then get the use of the main runway for the final and that the main runway is a bit longer. Can someone explain?
Hopefully we can squeeze in more than two runs, depends on how many cars and how quickly we can get them down

Thanks for that. How long is the second runway? It says at least two races. Is it a standing km or something like that? Timed or max speed?
I was thinking of taking the QV with me with the rear wing off and seeing if it will get by the magic 180mph but am not going to burn off the line to get a quick acceleration time.
Are you organising this? If so could you give me a call to discuss?

is there any spectating for this?
There's an area next to the Control Tower you could potentially watch from, but you only get a good view of 13/31 which is the main runway. You can only see about the first 500ft of 03/21 but I think you can move further round and see more from the Prestwick town end (looking down 03 towards the main runway) but I've never been round there so couldn't confirm. If the weather is half decent I may pop down, but I'm quite sure it will be an anti-climax as usual!
