Is track day tuition available at Knockhill?
Discussion
Some track day organisers arrange to have instructors available so it can be worth checking with whoever is organising the event you're looking to attend. A friend of mine has published a book for which there is a companion FB site so you might like to check that out too - https://www.facebook.com/gloveboxguide
That's great, thanks for all the responses, I might give KH a call and ask about that.
I see there's an evening session on May 18th, that might be a good first try at it?
Just a bit concerned as my car won't be the fastest thing around there and speed differential with others might be alarming but really keen to have a try at it.

I have taken the performance driving course. It is a huge amount of fun and very educational. 25 laps of tuition and exploring the capabilities of your car and your driving.
I did that too, highly recommended. I haven't gotten round to doing any track days yet but the idea is far less daunting having been round the track with someone who knows their stuff first.I went along for a Performance Driving Course in my own car a few years ago before my first track day. Here's the page for it on their site - http://driving-experience.knockhill.com/experience...
It was good to get instruction on the lines and general tips on how to drive well to get the best out of your car. I think it only lasted about 1 hour though so pretty expensive when you can get on an open pit day for about the same price. I'd say it's worth it though if you are unsure about just going along.
Also don't worry about being slow. Overtaking is only allowed on the straights on track days so basically you can take a race line through the corners and enjoy yourself and then just pull over to let faster cars past on the straight.
The problem comes when you get more confidence and start taking the corners flat out, you find yourself being held up by quicker cars being driven slower through the bends but you cant get past them on the straights!

So I can expect you in the next day Lewis, for tyres, shocks, brakes and wishbones? I see there's an evening session on May 18th, that might be a good first try at it?

That's good to know, thanks. The problem comes when you get more confidence and start taking the corners flat out, you find yourself being held up by quicker cars being driven slower through the bends but you cant get past them on the straights!

Sorry for the late reply - I was overseas for a few weeks when this topic was first posted.
Absolutely no problems with BMWs taking part. I think we had 6 taking part on Saturday morning, which was a very wet event!
We did have just as many Imprezas taking part this time, plus some other nice cars
