Arnold Clark and SDM are losing/dropping Nissan
Western, Macklin, Noble, Taggarts and Parks appear to be retaining their Nissan francise.
Macklin are opening a new Nissan outlet/s in Glasgow. Western apparently are looking at an outlet in central area.

We were told SDM were losing their franchise when we went to book ours in, and when we phoned AC in Stirling we were advised to wait a couple of weeks as it was changing to Western.
No great loss on the SDM front as their service dept was amongst the worst I've experienced yet. Maybe they knew the writing was on the wall hence didn't give a stuff - certainly didn't do anything to give the impression they actually gave a toss about customers!

Some digging on Google brings up planning applications for signage for a Nissan dealership by Western, the address the applications is listed as being for is Unit 11a Springkerse Trade Park in Stirling, which is round the corner from Arnolds Craigleith Road dealership so this suggests they are not acquiring the premises of Arnold's current Nissan dealership.
Western advertising for their team in Stirling. Seems a good move for them.

I think it was never likely that Arnold would make it easy for a rival by selling a dealership to them and given he owns most of his sites freehold it was not a case of a franchise to return. The ex Phoenix Honda site in Grangemouth was also considered as a possible location for the central Scotland franchise I believe.cas20 said:

I did not think for a second that this would be the case either,my reply was in response to a reply by another poster who had said Western had picked up Arnold Clark's Nissan dealership in Stirling. I believe Arnold Clark have already acquired the former Phoenix Honda site in Grangemouth although I am not sure what franchise they plan to install or what they intend to do with the site at the moment.

It could be a motorstore quite easily- very large site.I believe Arnold Clark have already acquired the former Phoenix Honda site in Grangemouth although I am not sure what franchise they plan to install or what they intend to do with the site at the moment.

Western Nissan also going into motor village at Newbridge
Relatively close to the former AC Nissan in Livi so I would imagine it is that territory they have acquired. Their website already states "Western Nissan - Your local Nissan dealer for Edinburgh, West Lothian and Fife."I wonder if they will open in Fife.

The new Stirling site is behind the Guardian Group site which is opposite the Shell Petrol station. It is visible from the main road although it appears quite a small site (although perhaps bigger than the current AC Nissan site.
Arnold's current Stirling Nissan site is small because its solely a showroom, it doesn't have a workshop/service dept or parts store because that's all contained within the neighbouring Renault site. Fife must be due a dealership because there isn't one in the whole of Fife now, first with Parks in Kirkcaldy closing about 6 years ago then Flear and Thomson in Dunfermline lost/gave up the franchise about a year ago.
It seems an odd move for Western to open a Nissan site at their so called "luxury car village" in New bridge as they currently operate another 3 sites in Edinburgh for Nissan, new car showroom at Corstorphine Road, Aftersales Centre at Stenhousemill Lane and a Used Car Showroom at Cultins Road, Sighthill (former Western Toyota before it moved to New bridge) unless they plan to close all those sites and group all operations together at Newbridge, I'd have thought the sensible plan would be to move all Nissan operations into the existing Sighthill dealership. Also I wasn't sure there would be room at New bridge site as they built and opened their new Honda dealership a couple of years ago at Fort Kinnaird when I'd have thought if they had space at New bridge for unity they'd have put it there alongside their other showrooms.
