I don't do democracy very well! I blame Uncle Benito for corrupting my thinking.

Anyway, as always we have differing views as to what we should do and differing requests.

Some guys are very happy with the monthly curry night at India Quay.
Others want a place to see the cars and kick tyres and also eat and drink.

Having always operated on the principal of 'Benign Dictatorship, I thought possibly do one of them, on the basis that one can never please everyone!

Another possibility, is to do do a month about, perhaps over the summer months? The difficulty as always is finding a venue for the 'kick tyre event' with food and drink.

I am not sure that Glasgow PH could cope with two events per month? I am at tinderbox each Sunday morning for coffee and so far only graham430 appears. It is his regular haunt though.

The main idea should be to attract people to meet up and not just type! If people just one to do that, that is fine, I have no issue, but many want more.

Anyway, ideas on a £20note posted to my home address ( or you can post a reply here, sob)

Paul

I think there's definitely got to be a bit of food, especially as I have to thunder over from Edinburgh.

It is possible to get a bit of a look at the cars and a bit of banter at the ATS as we're leaving the Quay. Maybe expand on that a bit?

Is tyre kicking a historical method of judging the pressure contained within said tyre or a form of morris dancing?
Current curry format suits me fine.
As most know I prefer my car shows to be dynamic and mechanical musically accompanied rather than static.....horses (heads) for courses.

I'm enjoying my monthly curry but the summer evenings and potential dry weather could mean an extra night somewhere like Duck Bay as mentioned before.
As long as I'm not on a shift week I'll go anywhere mid week smile

As I said last time we discussed this, it makes little difference to me as I travel in from Falkirk. I'll go with the flow...............so long as it's not Epsom. I hate Epsom!

A local Jockey there told me sometimes he hated the Derby, but life is full of Epsom Downs! wink

Yep, duck bay is the place to do this, nice drive to get to, big car park and food/drink. Would be good to give it a try.

Even further from Edinburgh so food would need to be cheap/good maybe SFT could do a deal?

Dreadful joke but somehow matches the place. 20 years of going to our office there, yuck! Even if it was opened by Derek Bell and his Le Mans winning Porsche. Sh!t, I'm ancient!! smile
Almost every year they would hold a meeting during Derby week, frigging chaos to us engineers coming down from all over the country.

Food is good in there, tends to be busy for that reason, could that be a issue for parking, ( I will get to one of these yet )

Hi

I have been to the wheelhouse a few times as we used to have our planning meetings for the Italian Car and Bike day there.

It is about 20 minutes from Glasgow. Literally just off the Motorway going towards the back end of Falkirk.

Parking is fine and you can see the cars.

Any views as having this as a month about? Or say an additional evening and invite our friends from the East and Central as say a mid May Motor meet! They have a bar too, so you can just have a coffee or drink instead of food.

That sounds good. A wee run up there to go alongside the curry nights would be good.

My vote is still for Duck Bay, if it's nice and warm we could be outside by the loch enjoying some nice food, drink and chat, we really need to try it at least once, it's been suggested so many times.

I agree with that, but it is a bit far west for some guys. I was thinking more of a mid Scotland mid month meet to go along with the curry night.

I was hoping to get guys from Falkirk and Edinburgh along and see if can get say 30 + cars?

We could do the 'curry night' at Duckbay or have that as an alternative Glasgow night?

I will check dates with Pardeep as we cant go there if there is a big concert on at the SECC.

Falkirk suits me a tread and is central...... duck bay is a great venue and will suit some from Glasgow area. You could possibly pick a venue West, Central & East and rotate. The only problem i could see, is that people only go to the meet when it's in their own area. The run through and back to a venue would also be fun.

I'm happy to go with the flow, and will try my best to make all the meets I can.

Travel from Lanark, distance isn't too much of an issue but I'd be more willing to travel further (duck bay etc) if there were some fun roads involved.

Well a nice divergence of views as anticipated!

I sill have a wee think and check availability.

There is a concert on the 30th at SECC so parking would be an issue. We can easlily pick another night say the 29th

30th at Duck Bay would seem to make sense!
