We are thinking of running a car event at Perth airport. Possibly the replacement event for the Italian Car and Bike day.
Any experiences, comments or ideas welcome.

I don't know anything about Perth airport, but oban airport seems to have had a car event held recently.

Although, It might be restricted to the evening, when the airport closes. (4:15 closing time on a monday and wednesday).

On the evening of 4th December 2012, the Airport took on a slightly different role as hosts to the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO). More than 30 cars of various ages (and sizes) took part in a timed trial which involved driving through a set course marked with traffic cones. The course proved quite challenging with many drivers unfamiliar with the airport layout. The staff at the airport donated their free time to assist as marshals for the event which was deemed as a great success. In fact, they have already requested a slot about the same day next year but slightly earlier. To quote from the HERO website ‘The test site at
Oban Airfield is a new one for HERO, and following the successful running (on the airstrip no less) we plan to go back on future events.’ Interest was also voiced locally with the local newspaper coming along to see for themselves. Below are some of the pictures which are also found on their website http://www.heroevents.eu/ so take a look and see just how well these cars are put through their paces.

Speak to the lads at the flying club there, I know they welcome car clubs, attended an event last year, great bunch who for a very small donation took us up on short flights in all sorts. Great day.

I went up there today with Andrew. Very welcoming. Good venue and hopefully can do something with them.

Will post more when I know more, but happy to hear any input.

Lotus Enthusiasts Group Scotland (LEGS) which has many Scottish Elises members had a meet last year at Perth Airport so it can be done.

Sound interesting Paul and even more interesting if we can have a quick blast up the runway!! Me and creamclarky were trying to arrange a runway dash which you will probably remember. I know he talked to the manager at Dundee airport, so if Perth doesn't work then Dundee could be an option. Both pretty central, so could be a winner.

Since I fly from there, I organised the Lotus and Ferrari and Harley days over the last couple of years at Perth Airport where folk got great hospitality and lots of flights. It is relatively easy to organise these things but only as a "visitor to the airfield" type event where the car meet is separate from the ongoing activity of the airfield. Far less easy when the car meet encroaches onto the airfield operation. Perth is a large training airfield and you can't have cars and aircraft on the live side of the airport at the same time and closing the airfield for an event is a fairly difficult (and likely to be expensive) task.

Paul, I can certainly put you in touch with the airfield operator to see how you get on.

Some pics from last year:
