These guys cover all over and did an excellent job bringing the Ferrari up to Glasgow from Norfolk.

Big thumbs up, very professional and quality covered transporters.

Thanks for that, will give them a shout.

Was thinking more along the lines of a beaver tail or 4x4 and trailer service, it's just an old Landy!

I'd ask the seller to see if he knows anyone local who'd be willing to do it for a fee. Knowing the west coast well there a quite a few v resourceful guys who might be in a position to do it. Or phone around garages in Glenelg or Kyle to ask advice (http://www.yell.com/b/MURCHISON%27S+GARAGE-Car+Body+Repairs-Kyle-IV408BY-532995 - my brother used to work with this guy in Kyle)

This is something my friend does for a living and a also do it around my job with my yank pickup and trailer normal costs around £1.30 per mile with a min charge of £40 for low mile transport. I'm based in Glasgow so price range is around 260 for delivery.

Go on www.uship.com and there's haulers that are in the area traveling your way can bid and they compete right down to a cheap affordable price

Another option would be to hire a car transporter trailer and go down yourself for it, Hire costs around 50quid per day from a lad in Huntly,

Great, thanks.

I don't want to hire a trailer and go collect it myself because:

A: Taking time off work will cost me more than it will cost to ship
B: No weekends free for the next 6 weeks
C: The fking thing will probably break down in the middle of nowhere

One thing is the weight for most, a land river will put few transits and cars overweight to tow

So added onto a suitable tow vehicle(atleast 1.5t?), will be over or close to limit and load will weigh more than what its being towed by.

I'm just guessing that you'd need bigger contractor for moving it.

No, anyone with a pre-97 l;icewnce can tow a 3500kg GVW trailer (I can't).

If your tow car is rated to tow 3500kg (many big 4x4's can) then you can pull a 3500kg-rated car trailer which weighs 750kg with a 2750kg car on it.

The 110 van I want to shift is 2000kg maximum so there's plenty of leeway there.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I need to move a car from Thurso down to London/Surrey.

Has anyone used a company recently ? Posted on Shiply but getting some annoying/aggressive messages from one company in particular, and it’s awkward not being able to speak to the companies before committing to the quotes.

If you really struggle (and I know this isn’t ideal!) but I’m up in Wick at the end of the month and could bring the car down to Glasgow airport.
