I managed to kerb one of the alloys on my S3 last month. Luckily I took out the alloy wheel cover when I got the car a year ago. The insurance company have recommended a Land Rover dealer named after the hills near Edinburgh. Anybody have any experience of using them, or should I be looking at getting it repaired elsewhere?

Unless i'm mistaken that's where the insurance companies recommended repairer is. Wouldn't be the first time they recommend you take work somewhere that isn't that handy for you.

Sorry, I should have put in the post that I'm in West Lothian. It's more important I get somewhere good rather than somewhere convenient. The insurance company informed me that as the wheel is diamond cut that they may need to send it away for repair. The S3 has no spare wheel so unless I buy a wheel and transfer the tyre it'll be off the road for up to 10 days! I'll give the recommended guys a call and see what they say. Thanks guys.

We send all our diamond cutting down south as we hadn't found anywhere up here where the standards were consistently high. It's pretty expensive though as we have to factor in courier cost to deliver and get back the wheels. If you want me to get you a price let me know.

I've got the same wheels on my Audi, the moron that owned it before just had them powder coated and they are all flaking and a mess.

This is purely down to a bad/cheap job being done. It is not a problem to paint a set of diamond cut wheels. Also, repairs can be done on diamond cut wheels without having to send them away.

Sorry for not replying sooner, busy week. I spoke to the land rover dealer and hey send all their repairs to another company in Edinburgh. So I'd be taking it to a company who would then send my car to another company to get a repair to a wheel. My car doesn't have a spare wheel, what use is a can of foam in this instance, and because it's an Audi the Land Rover company doesn't have a wheel to lend me until mine gets repaired! My next move is to contact the insurers and ask them why I can't go to the repair company direct, and try to find an Audi wheel I can temporarily fit to keep me mobile.
