Hi Chaps.

Just testing the waters - not sure who our R.O. is ?

Would anyone be interested in a little Car Detailing meet/class, covering areas such as safe winter washing and the general safe wash technique ?

I have access to a newly built unit kindly offered by a local detailer (who will be on hand to teach us all) ,which is heated and very secluded.

I will take a note of your email/mobile and tell you the location nearer the time so that we don't attract the wrong crowd.

No firm dates as yet, I do hope I'm not treading on toes.

The only stipulation is no sign-written vans as this is the chaps workplace and he is kindly giving a Saturday or Sunday of his own time for free to educate us on safe wash techniques.

Plenty of Coffee/Tea and Bacon Rolls.

John

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the interest.

A little machine polishing isn't out of the question. My slight hesitation on machine polishing is the class size, I think 6 for a private machine polishing class is the maximum that he allows. The main reason for this is fulfilment and mainly safety. 6 in a class allows both of us to keep a close eye on the vehicle in question and ensure you are receiving the most from the class. The private classes are c£100.00 / person and starts c10am - 2/3pm.

What I think would be applicable for the moment is;

Safe Winter Care - Safe wash method during winter, which would include a variety of foam guns, shampoo dilutions, wash tools such as mitts and wheel brushes. A look at claying the car safely, treating rubber effectively and cleansing of alloy safely and a little machine polishing demonstration.

The class is absolutely free, just turn up and tune-in smile

Would it be taking things a step too far for someone to video and upload to youtube as I guess its all practical demonstrations?

Obviously no need to film the bacon roll consumption class........

I'd be up for this.

I have a reasonable handle on things, but always willing to learn something new.

Continually amazed how things have progressed since I was a self-employed valeter back in 1996 biggrin

It's a good idea and something we may look into for future classes.

For some a tea making class might be worth it ? I know I would enrol smile

Sorry M1KEY, my lack of I.T. skills prevent me from editing your spreadsheet.

I'm available for w/e's of the 16th and 23rd of February.
Too early to commit to March.

Have you thought about running it in the evenings mid week?

What would the format be?

Is the unit big enough for 6 (max class size) cars in the unit and you work on your own car or would there be one 'demo' car and everyone observes then puts in practice what they've seen on that demo car?

I'm happy with everything except clay barring which I've never tried before.

This sounds good John!

Looking forward to maybe a more regular setup as everyone has a hunger for learning new tips and tricks when it comes to making your car shiney.

Could we even class 2013 as the year of the Glossy Car lol.......

Hello Goa'uld.

Normally a winter care class compromises of a main car within the unit, as the single car allows for everyone to locate within the warmth of the unit - especially with these temperatures !

The wash is of course outside, the vehicle is then wheeled inside to show safe drying techniques. To give you an idea we will cover

The steps to a clean vehicle (Such as wash mitts, buckets, grit guards, shampoo dilutions, foam guns, pressure washers)
Cleansing Alloys safely (brushes, cleaners, removal or iron and tar)
Accessible undercarriage cleansing
Cleaning tyre side-walls
Rejuvinating rubber/plastics
De-tox (De-Iron, De-Tar, Clay)
Glass Care
Safe drying (various drying methods and drying towels discussed)

As you can imagine we can't list everything as it may be replicated. It is fairly comprehensive as we don't want you going away disappointed.

-You can sign up for the paid classes when you are there or you can contact me directly. These have a limit of 6 people so that we can offer you the best transfer of knowledge.
-We offer 1 on 1 courses for those who wish a complete bespoke service, this is probably our most popular service.
-The Studio we will be using has a fully stocked detailing shop and there is discounts if you wish to book your vehicle in for a full detail.

Hi chaps

16th of March is the chosen date.

Start time of 10am

You can buy an array of products and for those who fancy you can order your own bespoke wax on the day.

If you want to cover a specific topic then please state and I'll do my best to include it.

Selection of M+S sandwiches and plenty of hot drinks.
