These 24 hour bus lanes are set randomly in the city. In four weeks the council have taken £1million in fines. Both visitors and locals are being ripped off by this underhand and deliberatley badly signed change. In some areas the lanes change from 24hr to timed with no obvious reason other than to trap drivers. And 'by the way 'as we say, there are no 24 hour buses. So watch out or better still don't go .

When buses don't run 24 hours what's the point in having 24 hour bus lanes?

How can we regain control of our roads from the green nuts and the greedy councils seeing every car as a profit opportunity?

I totally despair.

Has anyone written to their local councillor to ask them why this has happened?

How much do they fine you for driving in a bus lane? £60? If so, that's 595 fines handed out each day. Unbelievable.

They do through Glasgow city centre.

I spent many a night stoating down Union Street with a kebab after a club to wait for the 04:30 '66' bus!

The article on the internet states that the 1m worth of fines were over 11 weeks not 4. Just curious as to where the OP got this 1m in 4 weeks info.

Well that's all right then!

For a moment I thought the council were just being the usual utter bds and forgetting the fact that they are public servants and screwing the people who they are supposed to represent; the same people that pay their grossly inflated salaries. But it turns out they were being perfectly reasonable and screwing them slowly.

You couldn't make it up; idiots!

Going to mean being extra observant now I guess. One of the few pleasures of driving in Glasgow (or Edinburgh) is driving down a Bus Lane while it's not in operation. Especially when you have some eejit driving in your right blind spot deliberately blocking you because they think you're going to need to use the lane they're in.

Note that they have even installed cameras on the bus lane away way out in Duke Street coming from the Parkhead Forge .

Pure and utter revenue generation.

I was driving out of the casino last friday, 3 cars in front of me all turned right within 20 secs. £180 worth of fines on the way!!

Needless to say, I turned left.... I had been warned!

I assume they have bus lane cameras in operation. Does anyone know if there is one in operation in Glassford street southbound over the Clyde?

Went that way a week or so ago and didnt realise it was a bus lane til I was committed to that route.
