Brave or Stupid?!
Discussion
I was filling up this morning and had this said twice to me in two minutes.
The Ferrari hasn't been out for two and a bit weeks and I needed to charge the batteries (in me, and in the car!). I felt that it was just warm enough to go down to Irvine for a run, and the roads were salt-free ... mostly.
I do understand those that keep their car off the road regardless at this time of year. But I just can't do that.
Pre-run wash 'n' wax...

Quick stop for coffee just off Byres Road...

And on the A71 near Irvine... (yes, I had the roof down all the way there!)

Got home before dark and had it sprayed down and dried off.
Brave? Stupid? Hell, I thought it was awesome

Hi Graham
Likewise was too nice a day with not much salt risk not to go out. I took the Countach out and went to Byres road to Tinderbox and for the first time in ages parked right outside the cafe. Again for first time in ages I sat in the window seats as no other seats and watched the reaction of passers by. People do seem amazed that we drive these cars in the winter!
I agree though it recharges ones internal petrolhead battery!
See you soon

Good to hear from you Paul. Catchup over the next few weeks maybe? Likewise was too nice a day with not much salt risk not to go out. I was in Tinderbox earlier than you I think.

In answer to the OP's question; I think it's neither brave nor stupid. It's necessary.
I had the Vanq out for its final run of the year. Then a good clean and now tucked up in the garage de-humidifying nicely.
Been running the 4S as a daily recently, even in the snow. Really impressed with it! Sometimes it's surprising how useable these 'super cars' can be.

Today I put the F430 F1 'box into 'normal' mode for the first time ever. Usually I just drive in 'sport'. What a difference. Almost like another car. Can't say I preferred it, but you could really sense the difference in terms of handling; it was much more cautious and caught me off guard when the exhaust notes didn't kick in at the usual place. Gave me some reassurance that it really can be driven well in poorer weather though

You're totally mentally sane!! Good to see cars getting used.
I was going down to Sheffield at the weekend which is 270 miles each way. I could have taken the wife's car or my seat cupra, but decided to take the rs. Probably cost me £50 more on fuel and mostly boring motorway, but just nice to be out driving the rs. I had only done about 2k miles in it in over 6 months. Car washed and back in the garage... and road/pavement gritted before the neighbours have a car in their front garden.

Fantastic photos!
Sadly mine is not quite as impressive, but I will share anyway. I think yesterday will be my last hoon of the year before the bad weather sets in. Had a good run on the Rothes road coming back from Inverness. Certainly made a nice change from the boring A96!

Defiantly one of my favourite driving roads.

My old drinking ground from the 70's, is it still a popular place to bend your elbow ??
a few of the the old ones there but most changed to Ashton Lane where back then it was the Chip or the Chip!My old drinking ground from the 70's, is it still a popular place to bend your elbow ??
Sadly, now i tend to just go for coffee in what was the old RBS on the corner of Byres Road. The old vault is still there but not used.
