Trustworthy Welder in Ayrshire

Can anyone recommend a welder in Ayrshire (as close to Ayr as possible!) that they'd recommend?

I need some welding at a jacking point.

You mean Carrick Engineering. Have you used them? I thought they only did alloy wheels refurbishment.

Elite that do the exhausts are good but unsure if the do body work. Worth a ask I guess.

I do mean Carrick, think the iPad 'corrected' that for me.

Carrick have been split into two companies and the wheel side sold off; they're now Carrick Alloy Restoration in the sam building. Carrick Engineering are now in the new extension at the rear.

Have used them may times over the years but newer for vehicle welding. They do a lot of welding & fabrication for work & I know one of their guys used to build westfields and convert Fiestas to RWD etc... in his own garage.

Thy're almost next door to us too... is your missus at one of the aerospace places?

I used to work at Goodrich, but she works for a company caleed IBT 9nothing to do with aerospace). Are you at GE Caledonian?

Go and have a word with Rab at IPS in irvine - was he who sorted out my MX5 last year and will be doing the same with this one.

Thanks for that suggestion. It looks like your MX5 was pretty badly rusted. Fortunately my Lancia (also an H reg) just needs a very small repair after a trolley jack collapsed and caused the car to drop at a bad angle onto an axle stand.

OK, just got the welding done for a fairly reasonable £80 and I would recommend Neil Burnett's Garage.

If driving along Back Peebles Street from the North (i.e. going down the lane from the direction of the Unipart shop) it's the second garage on your left after the start of the lane.

I have found this guy to be the best. Very neat welding, not just a slap a patch on, he cuts out neat sections and grind aways weld so you get a seamless weld.

Also very very good prices.
