I Just Killed Bambi
Discussion
Driving home on the South Deeside road, a less than year old deer steps out in front of me.
it was only about 2-3 feet high but it reached about 20ft before it hit the ground.
no damage to the car as far as i can see, but i'll need to get a proper look in the daylight. the reg plate is cracked and it has a bristly moustache, but other than that it seems fine.
more than i can say for the Bambi

my friend hit a rather large deer this afternoon in his Skoda superb and it now needs a new bonnet, wing, grill, seat as side airbags went off.
The deer ran off but according to the RSPCA man who came out to search for the deer and spotted it,
It has a broken leg but runs off whenever he got within 20 foot of the poor thing.
He did say that it could easily get around on 3 legs as long as no infection sets in

gralloch straight away, hang for a few days, skin, take the shoulder and neck for casserole, take the fillets off the back (Yum) and have the rear haunches for roasting and just in time for Christmas!

Google it as I did, but NOT for the faint hearted.G
Will it be OK for eating as the kill was by Impact not by a Gun?

That is the rules, but I have never known them be challenged!
Deer are a bloody nuisance this year, seems to have been loads about all summer and not getting a rarer sight. Hit one in my old Saab Carlsson which would have written it off if insurance had been involved. Destroyed one of the super rare wheel arch trims, and I did not get a dinner out of it as it bounced off me under a truck going the other way. Would only have been good for mince!

On the way home from Pitlochry a couple of weekends ago I was on the road towards Blairgowrie and in the twisty forest section I had to brake hard in the Sagaris, 3 times! Twice for single stray deer which moved out the way just as fast as I saw them, the third time there were 5/6 and they just stood and eyeballed me till I slid the car to a stop about 10 feet short of them, then they turned and slowly walked off! Brave b
ds!
Couldn't believe it as its been years since I've seen any!

A few years back I had a Saab Viggen, an utterly mental, seriously quick car. I was travelling up to Glencoe with my daughter, who would be about 12 at the time, to do a spot of climbing over the weekend.
The new Loch Lomond road had been recently opened and I opened the Saab up on the stretch before the wooden bridge at Luss. About halfway up the hill doing about 120 a stag leapt out of the nearside bushes right into the path of the car and just stood there!
At the same time a large artic came over the top of the hill towards me. I just locked everything up and so did the artic driver. I remember I could actually see the whites of his eyes as the trailer slowly started to jacknife, smoke pouring from the tyres.
I stooped about 2 feet away from the stag and the artic about 6 feet, and it just looked at both of us with disdain and leapt effortlessly into the woods and away.
It was enormous, and I hate to think what it would have done to us had it came through the screen. The guy in the artic was pure white and drove away about 10 MPH!
This was no Bambi, more like Rambo!
