Thinking of putting on a stainless system, prob cheaper than the Merc replacement. Anybody had any experience of makers in Ayrshire/Glasgow?. Not looking for boy racer type crap, no 3 foot diameter tailpipes and gutless roar, would need to be reasonably quiet.
Any recommendations?

I used Stainless Creations in Falkirk for my old Saxo VTS.
I too was just after a replacement, pretty much matched the tailpipe, much lighter and about £60 less than the OEM part.

Meercat in Kilbirnie or C+C in Hillington always get the recommendations in this area.

Possibly best buying a pattern part from someone who does a lot rather than a bespoke. I have had them made for most of my cars by different people.

Can I suggest an SLK forum and see who does these to pattern and use them and get the options.

I uses Stainless systems north of Nottingham to make two for me, both to pattern. Workmanship was excellent hence bought a second system or another car.

Meercat have recently made 2 systems for both our cars and both are very nice. I will Be going back again for manifolds this coming winter.

Few pictures of the Mini's System and the TVR's

I wanted the Mini as quite as standard and i am very happy with it very nice and quite. The TVR not so much but it was exactly what i wanted nice on a cruise but when i open it up it is like thunder.

He also made a full system for my Old Jaguar and it was a work of Art I can't look Past Willie now and he is not to hard to pay either when looking at OEM parts he was a third of the price for the Mini's and that is in stainless as well!!!!

silenced De-cats

New system closest to the camera before it was finished and on the car as i could not get the car down to him by that point.

Willie is a true Fabricator and Engineer and not just a welder, The guy can't do enough to accommodate you, Customer service is very good. I had my TVR's one ,made up with out the car there and i fitted it my self but he insisted i got the car down to him so he could finish it up make new hangers and just make sure it was 100%.

I have Had 4 exhausts made by them 3 of them started blowing In a matter of months. But the last one I had was fairly well done.

Also the owner is on the special register that the police monitor closely.

If your car is under 16 years old that's where not to take it.

I personally wouldnt go near RMS. Have yet to see anything good come out of there. Had an exhaust done by Johny at Elite customs, and have seen a few others he has done and all of the work was top notch, nice guy also. Have also heard good things about Meerkat.

yes I can thoroughly recommend Elite ( Heathfield ) .. Went to them to replace the exhausts from the downpipe forwards on my Outback as they were well and trully rotten . He did a really good job , seemed to know his stuff and actually made it cheaper than I thought it was. I also know a couple of local car main dealers in the area use him too smile

Got to agree about Meercat the work is second to none
Wullie is a top bloke and is excellent at advising options
He built a custom exhaust for my wide arch astra saloon and my vxr8
Going back soon for headers and cats
Very well priced you'll find it hard to find someone who will fault his work

Stainless creations in falkirk. I've had 4-5 cars done there, excellent work and great quality. They've done side exit exhaust for my landy off-roader to just last month doing full system for my rs4.
I wouldn't consider anywhere else. Tell them Kenny with red rs4 sent you and that you might get a discount. They're good guys.
