A702 at Lamington

Anybody any idea why there have been traffic lights controlling a small part of the A702 just north of Lamington? They've been there for weeks and I can see no reason for it nor find an explanation on traffic Scotland.

Of course, I'm going to look a right muppet if they've been removed in the last few days since I last passed.

They have been there for ages and I cant see a reason why, but there again, the last time I was past them was when I was heading to Lauder classic car event a few weeks ago in the teaming rain in the Westfield with no roof, so I wasnt particularly paying attention to the reason why.

I would take a guess at subsidence or repairing the drainage underneath, maybe even tree works but this delay between coning off and sign of actual work is an annoying record.
