There was a thread a while back where the concensus was good if I remember correctly. The search facility on this site is currently goosed so couldn't find it for you. A few folk said they'd had good dealings and would give repeat business iirc. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I've been in there a couple of times to look at cars & they seem really good to deal with. Helpful & not pushy at all.

I even felt bad not buying from them, but it just wasnt the right car at the right time.

Cant say anything for the after sales tho, but first impressions are good.

I've sold 3 cars to Ross now and he even put a plate onto retention for me. By a bizarre co-incidence, my wife hired a baby-sitter and it turned out to be Ross' fiance...lovely girl.

I know he reads here sometimes. wavey

I would recommend dealing with them. I worked with George many years ago and know his son Ross well. A good bunch of guys with extensive experience in the motor trade.

I'll join the love in then...

Not bought a car from them but I know Ross well, one of the nicest blokes I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Car bought and I must say that they (Ross) are a great company to deal with. Over the phone description of the car was spot on and when I arrived the car was better than described. Very helpful and above all nice people to deal with. Recommended.

My experience with Andrew and Ross at George Mackay Cars in Edinburgh in recent weeks has been excellent. I agreed a deal with Andrew to purchase a 1998R Mercedes r129 SL320 'Special Edition' in rare crimson red (code 019), with £42k miles and they were willing to take my previous 1998 SL320 (67k miles) as part exchange. As I live on the south coast nearly 500 miles from Edinburgh it was vital that I could rely on Andrew's description of the vehicle.

If anything the car was better than the description and we completed the paper work in about 30 mins before I headed south.

Buying a car over the phone is quite nerve racking especially when it is so far away. However, based on my experience with Andrew and Ross at George Mackay Cars purchasers can trust their description of the vehicle and what they say they will do.

I hope that this will reassure other potential car purchasers in their dealings with this company.

Great that you took time to post! Great company.

I've also had great service from Alba Motors for a purchase and Lochrin Autos in Edinburgh for maintenance of various cars over the years...

I purchased a Defender from Andrew at George Mackay, part ex'ing my Audi. I live in South Wales so had to rely on description and advert before a very long drive to Edinburgh. No quibble over the part ex price of the Audi and the Defender was exactly as described..if not better. I'd have no hesitation in buying from them again despite the distance...but would suggest an overnighter to make the most of the trip to Edinburgh! Happy customer.

Some time ago but, I knowingly , probably paid too much for a e39 530d, I made the decision that the car just felt right, the car was impeccable, amazing spec, as new etc...the service was great,I would absolutely use them again.
