Interesting idea floated by Alan Cochrane in todays Daily Telegraph, stating that all existing councillors ar complicit in the Trams Fiasco and therefore we should boycott them and only elect persons who have not sat on the council before and thus start with a clean slate.

Here are your candidates - Pick one or two or more at will for your respective ward (SVT system again)

There are 2 independents standing in my ward and yet I can find no information on them or their views at all.

How the hell do these guys expect us to vote for them if we have no idea what they're about?

If you are ward 3 then it would appear that one of the independent candidates thinks the biggest issue in the city is dogs fouling the pavements...

Yes, I am in that ward and that is pretty much the only mention I can find about either of the independent candidates.

Why anyone would go to the bother of standing and not at least try to give us a clue what they're priorities are is beyond me.

We may actually want to vote for them if they gave us a bloody clue!

I'm also a resident of that ward and will be a presiding officer at a polling station on election day, should either of them pop in, as the candidates tend to do, I might try and sound them out, though that may be a little late for advising on here!

I went along to a hustings for the Inverleith ward last night and as you would expect the first question was on the trams. I nearly fell off my chair when all three of the sitting councillors (including Leslie Hinds) blamed the whole sorry mess not on themselves, but on council officials.

Unbelievable.

Tim, And did nobody ask who was in charge of the council officials?

Unfortunately the audience were not allowed to respond to the comments which made the whole thing pretty pointless. I was only there to see how it was conducted as I am a candidate for a ward in East Lothian and have my own hustings coming up soon....

Listening to the various party's election broadcasts, I think I'm going to vote for the independent dog fouler, on the basis that he cant do any bloody worse!

I got a fairly extensive flyer from my indy candidate Gordon Murdie and I think he might well be getting a small number against his name...

His platform is, pretty much, that the incumbents are incompetent charlatans. Can't really argue with that. smile

Guys,

For the Corstorphine area who is the person to vote for? To be honest, I don't care who it is as long as he/she was not involved in the Tram project...

Just vote for an independent, since all political parties are in some way complicit in the trams fiasco. Thats what I'll be doing.
