Graham is a client of mine (I arranged his mortgage), and I've had a guided tour of his own extensively converted home and the standard of work is very very impressive, specialises in conversions/extensions/attics etc - haven't used him myself but will have no hesitation in doing so when I get around to knocking the house through into the garage!

Ther are loads of good guys but one I do work for and never heard any clients complaints is Peter Newton at pan joiners in Kirkintilloch.
Also maybe look at a project manager, a good one will bring in a team of tried and tested guys to do the work and deal with all the interaction to save you any grief.
Another option is to look around your own local area and knock on a few doors of houses with recent extensions to find who they used (prob local) if they would recommend them.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies
I'll be looking at someone to project manage the full build. I wouldn't know where to start myself, although saying that we already have the planning permission and building warrants in place.
With anyluck im looking to make a start on it at the end of March.
Might be able to hang on to my car for a few months after that, and then it will be bye bye Monaro

Iain is great to deal with and will do a great job.

If nothing more he is worth getting a quote from as I found him very reasonable.

I'll second that! Iain will manage the complete project and has an experienced and reliable team behind him. He does fantastic work, and is starting a job on our place in a couple of weeks. Great guy, and very happy with the quote too.http://www.lindsayjoineryservices.co.uk/
