Morning all,

My GF and I are planning a weekend away in late Feb / early March and recommendations for nice quest houses or hotels in the Aberdeen area would be appreciated. We would prefer to be reasonably close to Aberdeen but do not need accommodation right in the city centre as we will be travelling by car. Nice scenery and decent access to local cultural spots would be good. We would prefer an independent hotel / guest house rather than a travel inn / travel lodge / holiday inn type of place.

Thanks.

How much of a budget do you have?

The Marcliffe is pretty good.

The marcliffe is one of the few places I've never been disappointed with, that includes having my wedding there and numerous meals. Superb service and attentive staff, pricey but I feel it's worth it!

I was being a wee bit tongue-in-cheek.

It's OK, but not many people visit for the sake of visiting. The shopping is OK if that's your thing? Some decent hotels, some decent bars and restauarants. Quite a few golf courses around.

You'll find that hotels are expensive during the week but cheaper at weekends because of all the business visitors. Malmaison is usually around £100/night Friday/Saturday night (>£200 mid-week) and is probably the nicest hotel in the town. Bauhaus is fine, the Park Inn (Radisson) is OK too and similarly priced.
