Chaps, any locals able to help here as I've done some online checking and tried ringing Lothian Buses helpline but it's not given the answers!

I'm heading to Edinburgh tomorrow shopping with the good lady (Oooh, great...) plus she has an appointment in Roseburn in the afternoon to make her look less like an ape.

My plan was to park at the airport park and ride and get into the centre, then jump on the bus back out in the afternoon and get off in Roseburn and back on again once she's been attacked with a strimmer. Then get back on the bus to the park and ride.

The X48/48 serves the route and seems to go along through Roseburn but the timetable listed limited stops, ie Drum Brae then Haymarket so without wanting to sound like a dumb dumb, is this a limited stop or do they only list the major points but it'll stop at any stop along the route? Ie, it will stop in Roseburn?

It's that or I park in the city then try and repark in Roseburn, neither really appeal. Truth be told, I'd rather get the train, least thatw ay several pints may help me get through the day.

Cheers and apologies for posting the world's most tedious question.

Heres what you need to know

48 serves ALL STOPS.

X48 serves ALL STOPS between Ratho, Ingliston Park & Ride and Drum Brae roundabout, then ONLY?at Kirk Loan, Zoo, Western Corner, Murrayfield, Haymarket Station, Shandwick Place (bus stop SB), Princes Street (bus stops PA, PD & PH), North Bridge, South Bridge, Surgeons' Hall, St. Patrick Square, Royal Commonwealth Pool, Prestonfield Avenue, Walter Scott Avenue, Royal Infirmary, Fernieside Drive, then ALL STOPS to Sheriffhall Park & Ride OR Dalkeith Campus.

I personally would park somehwere in Murrayfield, get any one of the buses which use glasgow road (26,31,12 etc etc etc, go to town, come back om the same fleet of buses to roseburn, then either walk along to parked car, or get the bus two or 3 stops.

For those that are interested, gave up on the public transport idea and parked at Greenside (under the Omni Centre) Top two floors deserted, £9.90 for up to 4hrs parking and 2mins to the St James centre. Despite crossing the city at 3pm then going to the Gyle 4pm, back to Haymarket then out to Corstorphine bang on rush hour... roads were surprisingly empty. Also, never yet saw a number 48 bus...

Anyways, that's it done for anotehr year...

Parking at the Omni is extortionate. Cost me £6.80 for 50 minutes! Cheaper to park at Jock's Lodge and jump on a No 26 bus. It's no wonder local people don't shop in central Edinburgh!

And the Park & Ride at Newcraighall is a waste of time. the only bus is a No 30 which takes ages to get into town. Lothian could do with running a second bus via Milton Rd. The trains are just too infrequent to be used on the spur of the moment.
