I've not seen anything posted or said about noise limits at Knockhill for trackdays. From what I've heard (LOL) noise limits are quite a big issue down south at track days particularly for stock Ultimas (most hover about the 105-107db level after a few 1000 miles) and TVRs. There were a lot of very noisy cars at the Dreadnought night last week...???

Probably less of an issue as Knockhill is fairly isolated - no near neighbours to annoy.

Don't believe it's an issue . . . one of the benefits of living in a country that's not overcrowded . . . ;-)

Unrelated question: Does anyone know where in these parts you can get 3" stainless steel pipe with a couple of strategically placed mandrel bends?

(only kidding )

Quite a few of the Elises seemed a lot louder than gdr's Ultima on the pit straight. We run the same exhaust system and I know I was marginal for passing the SVA noise test. It may just have been a frequency thing because of the different engine capacities.

Noisiest I've heard was an old R32 Skyline at an SIDC day last year. It was also probably the quickest thing there in a straight line.
Not sure how noisy the Ultima is from outside, but its bloody noisy inside and that's just the fuel pump with engine idling.
I'm only revving it to 5800 so not exactly a screamer. Its not going to scare the KH sheep too much I think even if it was marginal to get through SVA.

The noisy elises will be running to 7000->7500 rpm, some more . . . that's where the noise comes from ;-)

Some of the very noisy ones have failed noise tests at English circuits . . .

Revs and aggressive cams definitely make a huge difference to the perceived noise.

I'll just have think about getting a roller cam and a new intake to up my rev limit to 6.8-7k. Maybe next year...

And some of the neighbours work at Knockhill anyway.

There's never been any isues at Knockhill about noise, even when Ron Cummings ran the ex-F1 car there a few years ago.
