If I offended anyone I do appologise.

Alex

Hi,

Your topic 'newbie here' has been removed for the following reason:

Sorry but your post reads more of hello I have a business venture than, hello
I'm new here.

Please feel free to repost saying hi, leaving out the storage scenario.

Regards,

Because even though I'm sure you were only wanting to offer a car related service to fellow enthusiasts there was gain in it for you and the forum wouldn't work if everyone used it as a way of free advertising.

Maybe try on other owners club/regional group sites and you'll get a better response.

no offense but if you were trying to advertise or sell a service im pretty sure this is against the forum's T&C's so rightly the admin have removed the post. If you posted it in response to a request from another member then it would be different altogether but either way its childish to start moaning about this on the forums because this is between you and the admins so shouldnt involve any other members of PH.

Why don't you post in the business section and ask for input with your car storage idea.

There is plenty of discussion of members potential business ideas in that section, and you might get some good feedback too.

welcome to Pistonheads,

i got told off before for advertising, its an easy mistake to make.

so i guess if anyone is interested in car storage near edinburgh airport for about £20 they should just pm you?

i'm in glasgow so i wouldn't be looking for that but if people are interested i guess thats what they should do?

Elliot and I met Alex this week and he had a great space that was far too big for what we were looking for. Alex asked where would he be able to approach the right people and we pointed him to pistonheads. So it's not really Alex's fault!

Nothing wrong with you username but as explained in the mail First post saying hi and then you continue to comment on your storage offer.

That in conjunction with your username seemed to portray that you have an ulterior motive for joining PH.

No offence to anyone that I can see and you may wish to supply a service to members, BUT you can't do that via the forums, as per Rule of posting No. 8.

By all means put some info in you profile notes and if somebody raises a question relating to a service that you may be able to provide, you can direct them to information in your profile.

I used to check this forum on a daily basis and contribute much more, but i really cant be bothered with all the politics now.

It seems now were not allowed to discuss up coming car events as this may be seen as promoting them.
Were not allowed to share a joke amongst local friends, cos its in the wrong forum.
Fellow car enthusiasts trying to help out other members to offer them somewhere to keep their pride and joy safe and cosy over the winter are turned away.

I could understand if someone posted up a thread to sell their new range of shoes or to offer a decorating service that it be removed, but come on, this is a car forum.

It was me that pointed Alex here as im currently looking for garage/workshop space, but his totally awsome 1800square foot private garage is a tad big for my needs, so i suggested he tried offering spaces for winter storage in it.
'Pistonheads' are not offering car storage so its not like your loosing out or being undercut?
Maybe its best not to let all of us know about it and offer it to some other people instead.

Im outta here.

He may not have entered a email addy, or he may not have enabled PMs; you have to tick a box before it works.

Ferobert, you're being a little precious; like Big Al says, storage is quite at liberty to offer specific advice in answer to someone's question and mention his business/link to his website on his profile page, but starting threads solely for the purpose of advertising is against the T&Cs.

To be honest I wasnt, in my opinion "advertising," I dont run a storage business,I was offering storage space to like minded people who struggle to find space to house their cars over winter.

So are you saying your 15 car storage is "free of charge" to those members wishing to use it?

I have tried twoce now to send you an email, and it seems to keep getting bounced back.

I was quite interested in your idea, as my Chim is needed a home over the winter.

If you could email me some details of pricing etc to that would be great.

Cheers,

Malc

I'd remove your email address or add some spoilers(as below) before it gets harvested by every spammer on the planet.
