You could ask to borrow it (in the X5) canny be hard to use??
Ahh yes common sense ... had a fail on that with the panic that ensued on seeing the light
will drop him a PM if I can't get anything local and nick the WAGs carPhew ! Went to see Frank and what a relief, all goodness and back in business. What a top bloke ! Really knows his stuff on the turbo

CEL cleared will keep an eye on things, but basically had two fault codes - one for MAF and one for the 02 sensors on bank2, after clearing error and test runs with durametric on nothing came back, so can unclench the the sphincter again

No thats the sad thing - was crawling along in rush hour on way home - was doing maybe 20mph max when it came on.
Oooooohhhhh, did your back side start twitching like a rabbits nose? The MAF can cause the O2 fault, so I suspect MAF. They're £200 for a 928 re-con one, how much is the 996?Angelus said:

Guessing MAF sensor - then around £199 +/- for a new one.. all this playing about has me looking at putting a wee order list together
Thinking :(1) MAF - if this is goosed (not convinced but good bet as weak link)
(2) New upgrade - fancy the Designtek Air induction kit
(3) Toy with idea of High Flow Intake
(4) Upgrade the DVs + Silicone Booster hoses
(5) Get back to my car shopping, replace MAF, and leave everything as stock
(6) Get modding
Then I'd start just be hitting up new intercoolers and on and on and ariston.... Now I should get this into a poll

I would say number 5 until you have a positive plan. I'm still shopping & spending about £500 a month on the 928, it's not really helping. I really really want to take the 928 on Gumbaw, so can't help spending. She'll go off the road for the winter for a re-spray and the seats sorted...............Once I have another toy.......Where does it stop?

Thanks Steve, nice of you to say so.
As I said I keep a spare maf in the car at all times, it seems to be a common denominator with theses cars. Looking at the codes I'm not totally convinced its the MAF, the fault code is for bank 2 only. I did look at your MAF figures when you were driving it and the numbers were clean with no jumps and were in the range I would have expected.
Fault code:
P0175
Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 –
Below Limit
Possible fault cause
Incorrect signal from MAF sensor
Fuel pressure too high
Fuel injector leaking
EVAP canister purge valve open
It came on while driving slow, probably in the idle range so it might have just been one of those things....perhaps. You will have to keep your eye on the problem. As we talked about it would be good for you to buy a Durametric. If it does it again your going to have to have some diagnostics done to the car.
It would be interesting to know if you get the Secondary Air code next time you start the car up from cold.

Thanks Frank, will probably pop the car in to indie tomorrow with the info we gathered and see what he says. I'm tempted to get the MAF replaced after reading through similar issues on rennlist, will build a wee plan on things to check for from what you found. So far not had CEL come back on and looking for a durametric now :-)

Hi Steve,Let us all know how you get on.
AS to buying a Durametric I got mine form here: http://www.hickleys.com/diagnostics/durametric.php
Once you have one you can e-mail Owen at Durametrics them selves if you have any problems. I will have to have another chat with him about where the data is supposed to be logged, as you know it looks like my Durametric doesn't recognise windows 64 bit data storage location. I will give your little trick a go when I get my car back and see if that works.
Cheers,
Frank

I'm going to keep this link in my favourites. I'm no expert on theses cars , I just try to learn as much as I can about them. Its good to know there is an expert to go to,who is not too far away, if things go pear shaped with my996tt.http://www.spautobahn.com/

....
Hoping just something easy to fix (MAF, DVs or may just be something more....)
