Is it a Council or a Crime Scene?

They are either rampantly corrupt or totally inept.

Fortunately for them the population is either inordinatly stupid or alarmingly indifferent...

Thanks.

Well, well, well...that might explain something. Chap who lives just up the road from my old flat was in that department (drank with him in the World's End a few times - he and about 4 of his colleagues were regularly in there at lunchtime). He "suddenly" became a fixit/decorator type bloke about 6 months ago.

Criminally stupid and lazy, institutionally corrupt. A lot of people have become very rich from these compulsory building repairs and the tram scam and none of it has benefited the city.

Come the revolution I'll have the lot of them up against the wall. I despise Edinburgh City Council with every fibre of my being. I grew up in NI during the nonsense over there and none of the various assorted terrorist groups, despite ruining my country for over 30 years, boils my pish quite so much as Edinburgh City Council. I'm sitting here seething as I type this, even thinking of that organisation makes me furious.

yes

...though I don't think we should be waiting for the revolution to jail/bankrupt the scallies.

There are whole departments where I can't think of a single reason why anyone should keep a job.

Lived in Edinburgh all my days and agree with all of that.

However half the problem is that the council itself has been stuck as a Labour one forever so has never had the chance to be shaken up. Whether that would just bring in another set of corrupt phuqwits is debatable but i cannot help but thinking that an alternative party running the place might just put a rocket up a few places.

Much, if not all, the institutionalised graft seems to be employed rather than elected so may prove even harder to properly purge...

IIRC Aberdeen council first muted the idea of a bypass circa 20 years ago. It took them years to get the airport open from the previous 10pm closure to 24 hour operation. A friend of mine worked there (city council) and told me just how much of OUR money is thrown away in tribunals/unfair dismissals/discrimination/bullying cases blah blah blah. It went into the hundreds of thousands in compensation and court costs. Beggars belief, it really does.

Best of luck with the trams and the rest. I hope to see them running in ohh the next 10 years???

I like the way that despite being hocked up to their eyeballs, ACC want to piss away £50m or so on Ian Wood's folly and concrete over one of the few green bits left in the citycentre. Clearly the rest of the city is SO wonderful it couldn't possibly be spent on other things.

But if our esteemed councilers were doing their job the graft would not exist, which begs the question as to just why they allow it! whistle
