Cosworth servicing in Aberdeenshire
Discussion
Any recommendations in Aberdeen/shire for a garage that knows its way round Cosworths? Need a few bits and bobs done.
I'm sure the usual suspects (Ricky Gauld, AW Autotech, Clark etc) would all be fine but I know there's a few RS owners on here so thought I'd see if any of these are rated over and above the rest? Otherwise will probably just use AW Autotech - they've done good work for me in the past.
Cheers!

Seems all the RS owners up here are struggling these days for a decent garage.
Most are now travelling down to Sitech www.sitechracing.co.uk who have a good rep on the RSOC forums.
When I had my Escos last year I struggled to get anyone I could trust up here and had to end up getting my hands dirty myself.

I've seen on the spotted thread that yours is black. I'll soon have all the blanks filled in

Bought a '95 Small Turbo from Sunnyhill just a few weeks back. Tidy example, fully waxoyled etc. Couple of bits of fibreglass bubbling on the boot spoiler but otherwise pretty minty bodywise. Now just trying to sort out all the niggling wee faults with it...
I've a set of Konis dampers and Leda springs to go on to refresh the tired suspension but more importantly need to get the idle sorted. Suddenly stopped idling yesterday - dip the clutch and it stalls. Heel and toeing in traffic jams might be good for track practice but it's a real PITA
Trying to work out what's up but haven't really got time and need someone with more knowledge of them to troubleshoot it.Lefty said:
Gordon McWilliam at SMVR in East Tullos is a Cossie nut. 01224 878666
Sounds like just the ticket, and handy for lunch hour too. I'll give him a ring in the morn - cheers.slipstream 1985 said:

Cheers Mark. Promised myself an EscCos when I was seventeen so about bloody time
It's kind of messed up when a 16 year old escort is the practical daily driver but just couldn't resist. I want to enjoy the commute! Still feels fantastic - just let down so far by leaking water pipes, dead batteries and now the idle problem. All understandable niggles but getting a bit boring

Pics anywhere? I'll probably find them now I have asked
Quick phone pic from when I first got it home...

Nice and standard - still got the sixteens and the ambers
Fuuny, when I was seventeen all I wanted was eighteen inch rondells, morrette twin headlights, tints and a big dump valve. Funny how your tastes change as you get older!

It was Wick it was from IIRC? A couple of folk on escortRScosworth.com remember it too. Certainly no one has told me any horror stories so fingers crossed!
Aha I did hear that Sunnyhill had one. I'm thinking of selling my M3 and getting the 3dr an esc cossie as a garage buddy
The one I was looking at is sold so that was a bummer
Maybe a simple vacuum hose has popped off? You had a look around the inlet? If you need an ISCV I have one from my 2wd saff but it's probably different from a 4x4.
If you ever need a hand with parts just shout. I know loads of people in RS world. I've been living there for 11 years now

Appreciate the offer!

Regards a hose popping off, it might well turn out to be something simple (I hope) but I couldn't see anything amiss while poking around on sunday night. Don't think it'll be the ISCV, as that failing would surely result in overly high revs rather than low as the car would think it was still cold? Anyway, it's going into SMVR tomorrow first thing so hopefully get it sorted out...
