I know a lot of you have stayed here whilst on blats... thought you might like to know that the Torridon has just been voted the 13th best hotel in the world.

Only "slummed it" at the adjacent Inn on the recent West Highland Hoon but was suitably impressed.
With the dramatic setting, not hard to see why the posh Hotel would feature highly in any top poll although the midges must have been absent when The Times reviewer was visiting.
I'm sure I'll be back to give it a go some time as the last trip really whet my appetite to see more of that part of the world.

Got absolutely panned food wise in the Sunday Times today. Shame, looks nice.
FYI - That was the pub, not the hotel. He is indeed an arse - but that's kinda' how he earns his money I guess.... being a pompous arse is quite funny (aka Clarkson)
Anyway to add some balance:
He describes the Inn as a "wooden Portakabin"
This is said Portakabin:

Of the hotel he says "it’s Victorian camp Caledonian cliché"
This is said cliché

I'm quite prepared to enjoy a cliché once in a while.

Looking forward to a Torridon visit soon.
The wife and I got vouchers for our 25th Anniversary.......But maybe getting a bit late in the year for heading up with the Caterham.
I've only had the 7 out twice in a month, it's been chucking it down. The wife and I got vouchers for our 25th Anniversary.......But maybe getting a bit late in the year for heading up with the Caterham.

The wife and I have just spent the weekend at The Torridon. A superb place to chill out and relax, the food was fabulous and a whisky bar with over 350 malts, what more could a man ask for ?
The weather was your typical west coast.... dull and damp !! We went over to Applecross via the Bealach na ba, the mist was so bad I could hardly see the front of the Caterham.
We had a great time regardless of the weather. The Torridon is a must if your ever over touring the west.

It's quite posh, but you don't need to wear a suit/tie to eat there. The restaurant can be quiet if the hotel isn't busy and you're first in - but it's all pretty relaxed.
You might consider staying at the Inn ... you can then still eat in the hotel, or in the daytime use the whisky bar (which doesn't just sell whisky!)

This place looks amazing!
I was looking for somewhere to take the girlfriend for her birthday and this could be it!
Couple of questions..... I'm 24, she is 22, would we feel out of place? We do enjoy the finer things in life but I hate 'snobbery' just because we are 'young'.
Also, is there plenty to do and see in and around the area? I had a look on the website but it's always better to get personal opinions?
Any advice is appreciated!
Cheers
