Track Day @ Croft
Discussion
Looking to book a track day in a couple of months (when I've got used to car a bit), and was wondering whether Croft was any good for a beginner.
Had a look on www.trackdays.com and 6th July & 6th August are available for £179.
Is this reasonable ?
Anyone else fancy going ?

The only problem that I can see with Croft is that there are no circuit markers, so it is a bit harder to learn than tracks like Donnington, and also judging braking distances becomes that little bit harder (although there are a few bumps in the road which act as pretty good markers I find ).
Other than that, it's a fantastic circuit - the run from Tower to Sunny is flat in most cars - infact (if you discount the complex which is dull in the extreme), the whole circuit is excellent. All the incident when we were racing there a couple of weeks ago was between car and car (not an issue on a track day) - I think that it would be pretty difficult to bin it unaided in any serious manner - plenty of run off in all the fast corners.
Finally, the straight is long and wide, so there is no problem letting people past in your first few sessions - or indeed getting by then again in the laster ones

I pretty much agree with Rich. I love Croft though because I know it. Marshalling is excellent and if you make sure you only push it where there are grass offs then you'll be safe. The hairpin prior to the pit straight is a killer and really makes you work hard to carry as much speed into the straight as possible. In the morning the track can be very green so go easy at first. The full day event is better because track time becomes more flexible and you can run till your tyres turn to jelly. If you sense your brake pedal getting long then pit, don't risk running out of brakes.

could well be up for this, first trackday though,do you know if their are any on site instructors.
Cheers Rob
Feck knows, I'll drop Croft a mail and see what they say/recommend.
If you want a look www.croftcircuit.co.uk
silly me.
if you book direct with croft, the only days available are saturdays, at £85 half day, £150 full day.
you can also book with www.trackdays.co.uk, which is where I saw the 6th july (tuesday), which is £179 full day.
i'm sure there are others, i'll dig a bit deeper, but midweek would be better for me (or sundays, but def. not saturdays).

Croft doesn't list a trackday on the 6th July

6th July is just after PF and midweek. I won't be able to make this date anyway.
Listed under www.trackdays.co.uk
