Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had anything to do with Philip Welch specialist cars (on the A1079, just outside York). They have a car I am interested in and just wondered if anyone has had any experiences, good or bad.

Thanks

B

Welshes are ok, expensive but good stock and will look after you.

Phil Welch has been there at least 30 years and is well known and respected in the area. I haven't had much contact with him in recent years, but he was always a sound bloke.

He has supplied 'top-notch' motors to several of my friends in the past, and has always dealt in quality cars.

Thanks for your help guys. I came to the same conclusion - you don't stay in business for so long if you're a "dodgy geezer". I bought a car from him this afternoon (Philip himself) and pick it up on Wednesday (very excited!!).

Thanks again,

B

After 40+ years of trading from his premises on the A1079 near York, Philip Welch is retiring.

Showroom closing in January.

He's open to offers on remaining stock!

(I've no connection - just live nearby and called in when I saw the 'closing down' sign in the window)

I've passed his showroom regularly for years. He's always had a good range of prestige cars, used to be mainly Mercs but more variety in recent years. As well as his website he advertises in the Yorkshire Post motoring section on a Saturday. His stock is gradually diminishing, might be worth an offer if he's anything left you fancy.
My mate in Elvington who touches up our cars after mishaps has worked on Philip Welch's cars for years , always been complimentary about him.

I've always thought his prices were way over the top, so I've never bought anything from him, despite often looking in there for all the time he's been there. The cars are prepared to a very high standard though.

Although the cars are expensive, as someone else said they do seem excellent quality and he does look after you.

Being a local, I used to dream of walking in and buying a car from him. It was a huge pleasure to eventually do so (my Chimaera over 10 years ago). Still keep an eye on his stock.

Sad to hear he's retiring. To me, his place is a York car sales institution.
