Arrive in Style for the Prom !!!!!
Discussion
Thought I'd done my mate's lad proud by dropping him off in a yellow Ferrari. Much better than the hoard of limos that were gracing the scene, even the pink one.
The fire engine which dropped a gang of girls off was a hard act to follow, especially as it had the neenors on, but we were all dwarfed into insignificance by the group that arrived in a speedboat! Mint. It was on a trailer though being towed by a gleaming black pick up but what an entrance!!!

This is the Yorkshire, England forum. Am I out of touch?
I think I know what you mean, since when did we have "PROM" in school? and why do we start calling government dept. "agency", I'm not anti-American, but do we have to copy!!!Next, we'll be calling Scotland Yard "F.B.I."

The correct term is Summer Ball (whatever occasion), distinct lack of culture these days...
It's quite a while ago but we didn't have "Proms" back in our day either.
The school disco in the sports hall with the blinds shut and a glitter ball on a stick, on a friday afternoon was about as close as we got. Obviously no drinking allowed but we always managed to smuggle a couple of bottles of thunderbird in somehow.
And we all used to have to walk to school. None of this mamby pamby getting dropped off in mummy's 4x4 that's never seen a stroke of mud in it's life!
And if we cheeked our elders we got a crack etc etc etc....

And you could get fish and chips on the way home and still have change from a farthing!
I hate Americanisation!!! Trick or bloody treat, what's all that about. And what are all these yellow signs in the back of buses with slouchy kids on them. Bloody american signs they are. What's wrong with the good old red and white ones with proper British kids on them? It just won't do!

It just means that their parents did rather well on "Bullseye" when it was on. Neil
