Warning to all local pistonheaders! Two of my sons work colleagues have both had their cars nicked at home this week during the thunderstorms. They wait for a loud clap of thunder,at the same time break a window, in for the keys and away, 1 subaru & 1 lexus missing North Leeds area.
Scum of the earth, they all want dropping in a big pit and then fill it up with raw sewerage, guarded by security guards with electric pig prodders to stop them getting outEdited by ColG on Thursday 21st June 15:26

There's something to be said for not hiding the keys. Whilst they're scum and should be raped by Bubba in prison, things can turn nasty if they can't find the keys.
I agree. I have steel locked and barred gates, locked and barred garage, only access to the house is via garage side door. Keep car keys in the kitchen though, if they are determined enough to get passed that lot they can have either car....not worth risking the families safety for.Had my Audi S3 nicked off my drive in North Leeds, by someone helping themselves to the keys that I used to keep in the kitchen. Quite a few security mods done now to combat this, more security lights, security posts etc. Thanks to Tracker, it was found in about 10 minutes by the copper chopper.
Worth spending a bit of cash to keep your P&J secure, pity it took something like this to happen to me for me to realise!

Both cars stolen from Horsforth.
Now sadly I know for a fact that the local scum in the area used to target areas with money such as Alwoodly, Cookridge, certain areas of Horsforth/yeadon to break into houses and steal the keysIf I had solid evidence against them at the time, I would have reported them but the police once told me that they had a certain group of people under surveilance for months
He was gobsmacked when I asked if he knew what cars they had and when I told him
When you see a 15 year old driving a 1998 Porsche 911, you know the local law enforcement isnt working

I live 5 mins from there.Motors are nicked to order. The thieving waste of skins do recces around the area, then go back and nick whatever they fancy.
I live in a nice, quiet cul-de-sac, and many times I've reported the plates and cars of the chav scummers who slowly ride in and out of my street checking out all the driveways. 9 times out of 10, they are in stolen cars or false plates. Sometimes, the cheeky gets even stop and use their mobile phone's to take pics!
With regards to hiding the keys upstairs, 10 years ago I would have agreed, but now I've got a wife and 2 youngsters. If the thieving tossers want my car, they can have it. It's insured.

What a sick ing country we live in....I'll be glad to wave goodbye
Make sure you hide your keys WELL is all I can add...
..left mine in the house while I was working away. 16 yo son finished GCSE's and him and a mate 'borrowed' my little green monster. Police fortunately noticed twunt driving it and knew the car and *ahem* had a 'word'.
Son spent his first and I hope last night in police cells, with his mate. At least son had the sense not to be caught driving it. He wouldn't have made 17!!

Sounds as if no one was hurt and nothing was damaged, hopefully learnt his lesson...left mine in the house while I was working away. 16 yo son finished GCSE's and him and a mate 'borrowed' my little green monster. Police fortunately noticed twunt driving it and knew the car and *ahem* had a 'word'.

Just told my 16 year old that if he pulls a stunt like that he will be NOT reach 17. Being a typical teenager though it would probably be too much effort to open the garage door.
