but im back..i warn you now theres a fair few pics with this thread...
:???: :???:
when i was last online,my baby looked like this....
then she went for her first mot with me.....
and failed! on 10 points.. but after a word with a mechanic friend got it all done with new mot for £270,
then this happened....
a kerb took a dislike to the passenger side aided by black ice...
after spending £60 to sort this...
this then happened...
so after replacing both sides costing £34 (and grazed knuckles!)
i started with little mods...
mk6 mirrors, new grille,rs2k headlights sidelights and front bumper with clear indicators..
painted up..
gti skirts..
mk6 rear bumper (which cost a fiver due to damage..easily fixed with a bit of elbow grease!)
and thats pretty much it..
im in the process of removing rubbing strips..
next im looking for an exhaust and some gti spats, then fitting the koni shocks and springs i have, then sourcing some rubber for my 17s,...
well what ya think guys???

Lol I was going to put that but thought it was too mean.
I'm sorry my attitude on this sort of thing is simple.....If you run a sh1tter as a sh1tter then great, we all sometimes need one, whether we need to leave it somewhere dodgy and not worry or don't want to pile big mileage on a nice car.
But the old adage of you can't polish a turd truly does apply.

Don't you find that number plate makes you rather "popular" with the Boys in Blue? I think the rad grille looks daft without a Ford badge, but that's just personal taste.
Rather than spending your hard earned £ on cosmetics, how about treating it to a set (or part set) of poly bushes? On a car that is more than 3-4 years old they will sharpen up the handling nicely without incurring any nasty insurance problems. Not only will they make it nicer to drive around the twisties, they will probably make it safer.

Hey
At the end of the day, if its your run about an you want to improve it by adding details from later models, go for it son
The standard 5 door Escort always did look a little mundane (I suppose it was meant to really) so I see no harm in visually improving the car and making it more attractive
Its starting to look nice and clean
Although I must agree on the grille thing...it REALLY needs a new Oval in there!

I started with an Escort MK2 1.1, I loved it and it was my P&J, I made similar mods, and I enjoyed it - which was the main thing.
Marshyuk - I am not sure this will be of any use to you, as i am not sure on fit etc, but I have a set of a nice upgraded set of front brakes (to 4 pot etc ) consisting of:
2 Big grooved discs
2 Four pot calipers (chromed)
2 Wheel spacers
2 Braided hoses
I got these for my old (when I had it) Escort Mk1 RS Turbo - it was an upgrade to Cossy size brakes (i think I paid about £450)I never got round to fiting them.
The only problem I can forsee it that your wheels may not be big enough to fit the discs under (but you may be thinking of getting bigger wheels at some point)
Anyhow, if they are of any use - you can have them FOC, just need to arrange collection.
If no good to you just say - I will not be offended.
And keep on enjoying your car
Cheers
Nick
